What's the last Grade 1 to be run as a Non-Wagering Exhibition at a NYRA track? Who won it?

That sprint on Fourth of July weekend used to be a big event at Finger Lakes.

Here's one about Groovy.....he finished second in the second division of a split Gotham ( I think it was split ) in 1986 only to be disqualified. Who was the easy winner and what fradulent big race winner was placed second?

Man, I remember that race, the winner himself was fraudulent!!! It was Mogambo always touted highly and trained by Jolley and owned by Brant I think.
Geez, the 2nd place horse was fraudulent as well?
Geez. I mean the Derby was won by Ferdinand that year and the Preak by SNow Chief, the Belmont by Danzig Connection. But I dont think Danzig Connection was in the Gotham because he got a VERY late start that year and barely made the belmont. Travers was won by Wise Times, but i don't think he was in the Gotham either. Hmm. The BC the previous year was won by Tasso, I know he lost in the Wood, it was the first Wood I ever went to. but I don't recall him in the Gotham.
WHo was it?

It was the race that got cancelled when the trees went down I think at saratoga in 1988. They ran it the next day as an exhibition I think. Roses Cantina, Leroy Jolley, forget the owner, but wore purple silks, definitely purple silks. K mart sucks, I'm an excellent driver.

The John Morris, in 1988, and some Leroy Jolley horse won. Her name escapes me right now but I think she had green and purple silks.

blackthroatedwind 12-06-2006 04:03 PM

Rose's Cantina?

That's a good guess, but it was more recent than that....

blackthroatedwind 12-06-2006 04:04 PM

It was Tasso.

On a rainy day at saratoga in 1994 two female jockeys combined to win 7 races on the card. Julie Krone won 4, who was the other female jockey who won the other three races?

blackthroatedwind 12-06-2006 04:41 PM

How 'bout old Shify Sheik almost beating Slew O Gold out of the bonus for the Fall Series at Belmont! That was Oscar at his best.
