Unions?

You obviously know very little about Texas my friend. There will never be Teacher strikes in Texas. We will never be paid well. I know that. Our state is near the bottom of the 50 in pay scale. I dont give a rats a ss, I like my job.

No child left behind is holding back good students. Republican idea gone crazy. And the thing I really find appealling about the Republican Party is their basic theme of personal responsibility. But OMG did they miss the boat on this theme with Education in Texas. But I am lucky I get very good students. So I stay. God help the people who have kids that really need help. This idea is working against them. Personal responsibility, the core of the Republican party... what the hell happened?

Ez you need to read more before typing. You are playing in deep right field. Behind the fence.

Pgardn,
There is really no need to bother with this one.
On the Amish thread, he claimed to read my mind and suggested I commit suicide.
Response to his pathetic posts only diminishes intelligent discourse.
btw...NCLB is another disaster courtesy of Dubbya...unless you've invested in McGraw-Hill (testing and reading texts). Does it help children learn? Hmmmm.

Man, don't tell me about Texas...been here most of my life. You may be underpaid..but, at least you state that is your choice. For every one of you that is underpaid, there are about five who are grossly overpaid...setting around, watching the clock and collecting those green checks. That's the problem with teachers as a whole...they have cashed those green checks all of there lives, and now think it is their god given right to be paid and do nothing.

As to "No Child Left Behind"...well, that is just your opinion. What ever is wrong with the school system in the State of Texas can be traced directly back to the teachers..

See, Kinky isn't the only one who doesn't believe in being politically correct.

You are an idiot... Never suggested you commit suicide. Read the post..I said "don't".. Also, don't flatter yourself, I have no reason to want to read your mind, and besides, it is so closed, nothing can get in. What do you want to do now, infect your East Coast views on us in the Southwest? No thank you.

skippy3481 10-08-2006 04:37 PM

NCLB is a crock of crap. I know of very few teachers who actually like it. Personally i think there are alot more good teachers then bad. In, any profession you are going to find people who suck at their job are lazy, but teachers aren't bad enough to deal with the crap they do.

This takes the cake!
Is EZ's anger at teachers caused by envy of those that have an education?
HMMMM...
If you think education is expensive, consider the cost of ignorance.
EZ again proves it.

Icky, yes (the 1983 thing), but as Dalakhani said, not illegal then. And in many states, they clearly still think it's okay to have sex before 18 as long as you have a wedding ring-- check out the minimum marriage ages:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marriageable_age

So my question, if a 40 year-old guy marries a 13-year old girl, but doesn't sleep with her until their married, is it still icky, even though it's legal?

(That's apropos of nothing; I'm just curious what y'all think)

That's funny:

Georgia: 18 generally, 15 with parental consent, 16 without parental consent if pregnant

Yeee - Hawwww!! By golly I'ma marry that gurl as soon as she has her sweet 16!!

HILARIOUS. :D My biggest pet peeve is when people say (for example), "I seen her" instead of "I saw her." Drives me nuts!

Oh, good one! Others that make me crazy: "it's" vs. "its" and "lie" vs "lay." I won't even go into "less" vs. "fewer." Makes my eye twitch.

Back in the news...Hastert took 2 hours and 40 minutes...hmmm
Reynolds? A bit longer.

If the photo at the top of this page doesn't say it all...

Well, you implied that Hastert's 'lawyered up' as if that automatically made the case against him. The 'drama' of the public courtroom bothers me,no matter who the subject may be!

Timm,
If you took anything I said as an implication rather than what I actually said, that's not on me.
The reality is that I believe in the legal process.."liberty and justice for all".
If there has been a "cover-up", it will be found.
By the way..if you read the article I cited, you might note that Hastert's testimony did not happen in a "public courtroom".
It was behind closed doors.
I'm still investigating those that sit on that committee regarding their party affiliations.

timmgirvan 10-25-2006 03:38 PM

DTS: the photo you displayed was Hastert and lawyer coming from the deposition, correct? And then you write " if that picture doesn't say it all". What were YOU trying to say? The drama of the public courtroom was the picture of the "public courtroom" as being ''tried in the press". So..what were you trying to say?

Timm,
I should have used more specific words.
Try these...The "look" on Hastert's face says it all.
The "courtroom" was not open to the public, only those that serve on the "ethics committee", hence the photo by a media photographer OUTSIDE the room. The "public" had no access.
What do you want me to say?

Downthestretch55 10-25-2006 03:58 PM

Timm,
This article might clarify what I attempted to say. No, I did not have access to the Ethics Committee room. Nor, did the press.
Hence, I know not what was said.
