I agree with Buffy Perfect drift has shown up and ran as hard as he could for alot longer than some horses out there so let him run and to be honest I dont expect him to win , but I want him to and I will always when he is running place a wager on him to win because I feel he deserves respect just because hes still running and trying.

I think I like you... :p

Honestly, I took offense to those that said he didn't belong in the race. Nothing wrong with running for second or third place money. I have faith that he may win it! I always do.

He can run in whatever spot he wants but he simply has no shot whatsoever and based on his performances this year, you know...his current form, he does not belong in the race anymore than Funny Cide does.

Sorry if his fan club/cheerleaders don't like this but it's the truth. He will be in the 40-1 vicinity in this year's BC Classic without a significant rash of injuries.

I'm wondering if the Euros will make any impact in the Cup in the Classic.
They don't run very often, most of the time running the big guns in the Turf.
But they have been represented quite well with some longshots who hit the board and even won one with Arcangues.
I remember Ibn Bey running 2nd to Unbridled at about 60-1. Arcangues winning at 99-1. Also remember Jolypha(a filly) running 3rd to Ap Indy.
Sakhee got beat a nose to Tiznow. Of course there is always the famous Swain debacle where he was the best in the race and Dettori kept windmill whipping until he was on the outer fence. They have been represented quite well and usually with their 2nd tier horses.
I think more of them would have been factors had they tried the Classic.
The extra week later that its being run this year should help them, as well as a climate that will be very close to what they are leaving from at home.
With the older division falling apart and not many bonafide contenders, it wouldn't shock me if Euros had an impact in the Classic this year.

David Junior has the pedigree and the talent for the race, but due to the way he is being campaigned I hope he runs last. Terrible message it would send to others who want to run in the race in the future and I'm glad the connections of Dylan Thomas are prepping him on dirt beforehand.

You're entitled to your opinion. I just think he's just as qualified as most of the other mules running in this race and he deserves a shot. He seems to love hitting the board and if he goes off at 40-1, I hope he does hit the board.

why does he necessarily need a dirt prep? Giants causeway did just fine without one.

OK, maybe not a dirt prep, but at least a race beforehand. When was his last start, when he beat Ouiji Board early summer? And sorry, but Giant's Causeway and David Junior are not in the same league.

Leparoux.......

Julian Leparoux is no question one of the best young jockeys in the sport, is will no doubt give Perfect Drift a smart trip. This horse is all heart, always gives a fine effort, and will be a factor on BC day. BC day this year is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in history, each field should be stacked with competitive horses. Want to see how Lava Man looks in his prep, he's been one of the best stories of the year, and lookin forward to seeing him run on BC day among others LOL!

Gander 09-22-2006 10:23 AM

Not sure what all the fuss is about. I saw him blow quite a few rides at Saratoga this summer. I know hes very young still with super potential. But I was more impressed with Garret Gomez than Frenchy. Need to see more, tab for later..

Bold Reasoning 09-22-2006 10:53 AM

Perfect Drift was ridden by several Hall of Fame jockeys who could not get him to the winner's circle. I think the horse has never really liked to win, going back to the days of Eddie D. He can only win the Classic if the entire race is just bizarre. I see Giacomo at the finish line near him. However, I like Bernardini on top of a bunch of longshots, including Perfect Drift and Giacomo.

Anyone know the oldest jock to win the eclipse award? Just curious
