LOL....I bypassed the nature-boy-by-the-sea stuff. It doesn't bug me. I struggle more with tuning in than tuning out.

Now you've really hurt me. I'm going to kill one of your other puppies for that.

Oh goody. On the NBC coverage he just told Costas that he's all for the federal legislation going down right now, likes 3 strikes and you're out, and wants to see the FBI get involved. If he ever got called to give his opinion before a Congressional committee, break out the popcorn cuz Barry's gonna put on a show.

The industry owes Dale Romans a enormous debt of gratitude for sparing all of us three more weeks of Irwin's insufferable blowhard act. As was said to me after his post-Derby spew, 'everyone in the game knows what a miserable prick Barry Irwin is, and now everyone else does too'.

Wouldn't it be great though if you had a whole show with Barry Irwin, Satish Sanan, and Mike Gill as the panelists ? What an entertaining debate that would be.

I guess it's all perspective. I would have found Graham Motion going for a TC the next 3 weeks pretty enjoyable compared to the last t-bred trainer who went for one 3 years ago. The only conclusion I can come to is what a d-bag Motion must be to train horses for a guy like Irwin. That's a shame because I was sort of impressed with the guy. Because certainly if Motion had any class or sense whatsoever, when a prick like Irwin called him and asked him if he would train his horses, MOtion would have told him to f off wouldn't he??

Yes, it might have been nice for Graham Motion as trainer trying for a Triple Crown as the deserving element of the story. Unfortunately, Barry Irwin damaging the image of the industry with his baseless nonsense during one of the few times the game gets mainstream media attention would have been made as big a focus. But it seems you've relished Irwin's eagerness to embarrass the sport in an attempt to show what a special breed of omnipotent firebrand he is.

And to the other point, if trainers made decisions about accepting clients based solely on their character, they wouldn't be in business.

Yikes Mike! I think we'd need to bring Bill Maher in to handle that...

i'm just glad the assman horse didn't win. i like shackleford, good for him that he could hold on. he impressed me in florida and showed yesterday that he belonged.

but man, not much of a cast of characters this year.

does animal kingdom move back to turf? i don't see him running in three weeks. i just hope he does't turn out like another mine that bird, who also ran second in the preakness after a surprise win in ky.

My ears are bleeding just thinking about that trio...you would have to take away my belt and shoe laces too.:zz:

I dunno, can we add Mike Repole? He hasn't talked about himself in the third person in weeks now. I'm going through withdrawal.

Looks like they could both end up in the race. Not definite, just possible. I was fully expecting to get the news that neither was moving forward, so I'm pleasantly surprised.

Danzig 05-22-2011 02:02 PM

i am hopeful that the two both go to the belmont. it's tiring to have people avoid each other much of the year.

also, who is shackleford's owner? i'm not familiar with him at all.

I can't see why Animal Kingdom would not run back in the Belmont if he comes back out of the race ok. He had 6 weeks off before the Derby so a run back in 3 weeks should be no problem. Certainly the distance is not an issue.

The Preakness was only his second start on dirt and he lost because a bad break put him too far back. I believe that he is a much better horse than Mine That Bird and there is no reason to believe that he can't be a top three year old on dirt going forward. Considering that he can run on all three surfaces, he should have quite a future as long as he stays on the track.

As for Shackleford's owner, consult Root.

Your ignorance never ceases to amaze me......:zz:

Danzig 05-22-2011 09:12 PM

you know, vol, i'm not quite sure what i did, and when, to provoke you...but i'm really wishing whatever it was hadn't happened. animal kingdom came into ky off most folks radar, with a pedigree that screams turf. he still has more starts off dirt than on. he had a great win, and a nice run again saturday. my wondering about the belmont had more to do with the fact that most owners shy away from repeated attempts at top competition. that with a loss, he doesn't have to run in ny.

i'm hoping he continues in the top races the rest of the year, but he's certainly shown an ability on all surfaces. honestly, i'd like turf stars to start getting more respect. it shouldn't be considered a lesser type of event should they choose to put him back on what may ultimately be his best surface.

Antitrust32 05-23-2011 08:23 AM

I'd say there is no way Animal Kingdom moves back to turf, when he's basically showed the past 2 weeks that hes one of, if not the best 3 year old on dirt. Dirt is where the money and fame is.

yeah, i know it. it's funny tho, when you have a big dirt horse-people want them to try turf. remember when people were saying zenyatta should run there? or curlin's attempts there?

i suppose i should have typed 'main track horse'.

at any rate, here's hoping for some great racing to follow this past saturday. i think we're all tired of people avoiding each other for much of the year, with abbreviated campaigns and months between starts.
