Here's a tough one:

At least in the last 25 years, only 3 horses have won both the Discovery and the Queens County in the same year. A fourth horse, Early Warning, one each race in separate years.

Name all 3.

I thought number 8 was the easiest, but then again, I'm a bit of a fan of both Indian Charlie and the half brother of that Starlet winner, Magical Mile.

Does anyone here remember Magical Mile? Holy shid man, that was one bad ass 2yo.

In case anyone is interested in Magical Mile, here is a link to his pedigree page.

His first two races were devastating, and that included the 56.2 he went going 5 at HP.

I also remember him being an amazing physical specimen as well. You can see a picture of him at this link when he was older, but still looking good.

Excellent. He's tail male to Man O War, Fair Play.
#22 on the North American list.

Same question except who is 2nd highest rated sire with no tail male Nearco or Native Dancer ?

Indian Charlie 12-08-2010 10:51 PM

Easy.

Through Intentionally, it's Successful Appeal.

If you can't even get the questions right....

Sacahuista won the Distaff ( and quite a field it was ) and not the Juvenile Fillies.

It takes me on average 15 minutes to come up with these 10-question trivia blocks, so some facts may end up "modified".

I do believe that Sacahuista was favored in the BC Juvenile Fillies if that's any consolation.

Don't know the third....or #8.

The third was the D. Wayne Lukas colt Sports View.

I remember him getting upset in his comeback race. He might have got dusted in the Malibu, too.

Back when the LA Times actually covered horse racing, Magical Mile was certainly all the rage after his first two starts. Of course, those early season 2yos never hold up for one reason or another.

Really? I thought the winner, Brave Raj, was second choice over the second finisher, Tappiano. Was Sacahuista even in that race?

ranger5830 12-09-2010 04:19 PM

Sacahuista was in the race, she was 5th early before falling out of contention, at least that's how it looks in the video, of which the picture quality is every bit of 24+ years old: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKqihiNMi8c

Sacahuista was 4th as the 1.90-1 favorite.

Some horse racing fan you are.
