The first one was kind of a fluke, but the CD dirt is routinely a joke on Derby/BC days. Eight Belles, Pine Island, Fleet Indian, now Atta Boy Roy. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.

It really seems as if this track was not prepared for safe racing. There could be some serious negatives that result from this BC and it is unfortunate. Have to wonder if the trend continues whether we will see many Euro's come next year. Great move for BC to snub New York, at least the tracks are safe for racing.

Ironically the turf incident may have been caused by catering to the Euros too much. Just a really bad job by CD all around. Gulfstream would be a safer alternative at this point.

I agree Joey, Churchill has done a horrible job. They should never cater to one trainer. At this point I am scaling back my bets because I don't have confidence in either surface. With a slippery turf course that some jocks have expressed concern with and with jocks wanting no part of the rail on the dirt, it is hard to handicap these races. I will still make a late pk4 play with Pat, but my intrarace wagering will be scaled back quite a bit the rest of the way.

Good luck on this race gang. No play from me here.

It wouldn't be that much of a stretch to respond that, with NYRA, there's never any certainty that they'll actually run on the turf. I realize that scratching because the course is too hard, relatively, is essentially the same as scratching because the races were taken off the turf, a scratch is a scratch, after all, but the latter is a much higher degree of absurdity.

That so many turf races in this county (and WO) are won by frontrunners (and not just those setting ridiculously slow paces) pretty much indicates how much of a joke turf racing is here.

Unknown to those that run racetracks, is that GRASS GROWS BACK. Just run the races. If the courses get to the point where they begin to favor closers, that's fine, as that's the way turf races are supposed to run. It's not ****in' dirt racing: why try to make it that way?

i agree, that grass looks damp. add that to the fact that its not exactly hot out there and you're playing with fire. The euros knew what the ground was gonna be like for at least a week, no excuse why the grounds crew should cater to them so they wont scratch.....whats workforce's excuse then?
