2 of the 3 favorites will be Ice Box and Stately Victor, both have issues

Unless a rabbit is sent out there doesnt look like alot of speed for Ice Box(Should hit the board due to fact he can get distance and some can't) and Stately Victor I am still not convinced can run on fast dirt.

There should be 13 or 14 horses, would love to see the filly go to take some money but don't look like it

New Madrid is a go-Ice just said he needs a race and the turf one is the next out there

Can't see Stately Victor being a top 3 choice. Fly Down and First Dude will be lower than him.

In other words, Cordero wasn't available.

I agree. I would think Stately Victor will be the 4th or even 5th choice. Fly Down, Ice Box, and First Dude will all be lower odds than SV. Make Music For Me ran 4th in the Derby. He might even be lower odds than SV.

Ya u guys are right I keep thinking Game on Dude not First Dude

Stately Victor will be 4th choice but not sure he likes the fast dirt no matter what the odds are

Quite a pickup for Johnny. Lezcano picked the wrong horse IMO.

Ice Box got the wrong jock.

Setsuko

Out with ankle probs damn:mad:

Next year?

This could have explained his relatively poor performance in the American Turf. I know Mandella is conservative and he probably knows better than anyone how to care for a horse but this comment caught my eye.

It's nothing serious," Mandella emphasized. "We are going to give him a couple months off and start thinking about next year."

Belmont contenders PP's

New Madrid entered for the 6th race today.

Gate Dancer 05-20-2010 07:59 AM

Ridiculous as this sounds, I still hope to see him (Setsuko) get healthy and run on conventional dirt. I just can't believe he won't move up. He's a May foal and the time off should help him mature also.

slotdirt 05-20-2010 08:06 AM

I don't know, I thought his relatively poor performance on the turf at CD could have been because he's probably not a turf horse.

Dublin to bypass Belmont
By Marty McGee

LOUISVILLE, Ky. Dublin has been withdrawn from consideration for the 142nd Belmont Stakes on June 5, meaning no horse will have run in all three Triple Crown events this year. Trainer D. Wayne Lukas said early Thursday at Churchill Downs that Dublin will wait for the fall classics and that withdrawing the colt wasn t an easy decision, because he s really doing good.

Lukas noted that Dublin has had five races in 12 weeks and he wanted to give the colt a little break before gearing back up for major races such as the Haskell, Jim Dandy, or Travers before ultimately pointing for the Nov. 6 Breeders Cup Classic at Churchill.

Think she is wanting NotDirt to plug her.

Can see where you would get confused.

Even Uptown CharlyBrown will take money because...well, he always takes money. First time McLaughlin will drop his price even lower. Either way, Zitos horses will be the two deserving favorites.

It's probably too early to say either way, look at Al Khali last year, there were some opinions that he wouldn't amount to much on turf either.

tjfla 05-20-2010 10:53 AM

Well looks like we are down to 12

Starting to wonder how low Ice Box and Fly Down will be bet down to? Still looks like we could have another Preakness tho with couple single digit odds and rest at 25/1

So he proved everyone wrong with his scintillating Saranac win?

Setsuko is a plug but I am dismayed that he's not running in the Belmont because he would have sucked up a ton of money. I'll have to just rely on Game on Dude for that now.

Smith to Ride Drosselmeyer in Belmont

Quote:

The WinStar Farm-owned colt will be ridden by Mike Smith in the third leg of the Triple Crown, racing manager Elliott Walden said May 20. Walden said the jockey switch was made to “shake things up a little bit.”
Seems to be the thing to do these days.
