Does not look good... up to 18 inches.

randallscott35 12-18-2009 08:13 AM

KNS will need snow shoeing and blinks.

If they cancel, I sure hope they do so before I get on the plane Sunday morning...

I just heard the track is officially closed tomorrow, but is still open for Sunday as of now.

Kasept 12-18-2009 10:19 AM

Just spoke with Sal Sinatra at PHA regarding Sunday.

The threshold for cancellations is 6" of snow. If they get more than 6" they will cancel and less than that, they'll run.

Does this mean that if they get 6 inches Saturday they will close Sunday as well?

I think so. 6" is the cutoff point where they need to plow snow rather than scrape it off. And I guess if they use the plows, it's more involved getting the track in raceday shape.

Overall, it don't look too good.

And... on top of everything else, Chuck got to Philly from Florida wearing a windbreaker.

Thanks. At least we should know Saturday one way or the other. I also wonder if the Jockeys would ride regardless. Let's hope for some sun.

He can watch the Fins lose from a Philly sportsbar.

In case anyone is still coming, the Holiday Inn is above average for a Holiday Inn, and supposedly the Red Roof Inn is a deathtrap. FYI

I was considering setting the Red Roof on fire to save future travelers but it was too cold.

I HATE winter weather!

I'm gonna be a "party pooper" and had to bail on the weekend because of the freakin' weather! cancelled the hotel & thinking of regrouping for the 31st if Lloydobler is racing at Aqueduct that day. I'm REALLY disappointed not being there on Sunday :( , but too far to venture by car during a snowstorm with the chance of the races not running anyway.
