There is no such thing as "separation of church and state" in the constitution.
It reads.."Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" Nothing at all about "separation".

Atheists are ok so long as they're not Commies too.

Question: "Would you vote for an Atheist President?"

It depends. Is he or she Pro-Life?

So, being the sad lil contrarian return server, all you can do is distract/distort. You think people don't notice how you change the subject to distort? Half these people are baseball fans. They know when you're trying to change the eye level. Notice how some people just answered the original question at the start of the thread? You can only seem to respond to other responders. Do you not think your own view can simply stand alone? You must start returning someone's serve right away? Some people really like returning serve more than serving. Don't you think people can read your view, and an opposing view. Then decide? You must mix the 2 right away? Look at all these Conservative threads on here. How come I can just let them be up without feeling the need to get in there n' answer their views with a return of serve?.... It's because I can tolerate a difference of opinion, and return servers really struggle to tolerate a difference of opinion.

Funny thing is man, you never seem to be able to address anything I bring up. You ignore my points, make little quips to dismiss those points and then do exactly what you accuse me of doing.

I wasn't dissing the military just the one soldier who decided to murder his comrades. He muslim they not. You do realize we've had a President who have been on record as saying 'he loathes the military' and another candidate who did everything in his power to not allow ballots cast by deployed troops to be counted?

OK now let's see how conservative you are! :D

I assume an atheist candidate would let the woman choose, since a lot of arguments for pro-life come from Christians.

Then again, this is probably a wild assumption. There could very well be an atheist candidate who finds abortion horrible without the influence of religion.

Yea, imagine that. I recognize when someone is trying to distort n' distract enough to somehow try to excuse the inexcusable. You can start a thread about the evils (past n' present) of Christianity, or you can just start writing about it in a new entry on this thread. I'm sure I'd agree with most of it. What I totally disagree with you on is your trying to excuse the violence Islam inflicts (on innocent people, and animals) by saying Christianity is somehow the same. It would only add to the damage. Those would be additional bad acts. They wouldn't lessen the damage done by Islam, or justify it. Only in your ill mind does it somehow lessen the damage done by Islam. The Muslims that knocked those buildings down didn't try to just kill Christians. They tried to kill non-Muslims. Same with the Muslim guy who killed all those soldiers in Texas. He didn't care if they were Christians. Long as they weren't Muslims, then it was just ducky. If I don't respond to a point you made it's because the point is being made in an effort to excuse, cloud, or equalize. I mean it's like I'm warning about a serial rapist, n' your upset that I am not (at the same time) warning about a car-theft ring. At the moment, I am more worried about buildings being knocked down, and innocent soldiers being shot on their own base. If someone is doing that in the name of Jesus, then please inform. It's still doesn't lessen the violence done by Islam. I don't agree with you about that. I have no idea why you think Islam's crimes are somehow negated. It's some sort of bizarre couching that eludes me at this time.

My point was not the murderous traitor, but the other 10,000 Muslims in our Army - including some laying dead in Arlington Cemetery after having given their lives for us in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Did you ever read the below, Dell? ;)

And that is where I am now, writing to you because you have been good to me and have a right to know what I think and feel. I am writing too in the hope that my telling this one story will help you understand more clearly how so many fine people have come to find themselves still loving their country but loathing the military, to which you and other good men have devoted years, lifetimes, of the best service you could give. To many of us, it is no longer clear what is service and what is disservice, or, if it is clear, the conclusion is likely to be illegal. - Bill Clinton, as a student

SOREHOOF 11-23-2009 09:18 PM

Atheists anyone? For Prez?

Honu 11-23-2009 09:38 PM

Perhaps , Im not sure though as I would hope that a person running the country would have some belief in a higher being or at least a sense of something or someone greater than themselves.

If they believe in America, that's a good start.

I'll deal with that too. This country needs a good Atheist.

From the first site I googled, for what it's worth

Estimates vary from 4,000 to more than 12,000

?? You said Clinton said something, and it's apparent from the quote he never said it.

With you it's always the details, huh? ;)

Who is "my man"? What in the world are you talking about there?

My figure is what the Army told the news after the shooting (was in news articles that day)

Probably is 10,000, but only 4,000 will admit it - afraid of the Islamophobes.
