  • History would suggest that any male horse who won Preakness, Haskell and Woodward would be "clubhouse leader" for Horse of the Year with or without Breeders' Cup victory. Add Kentucky Oaks and Mother Goose and "virtual lock" is not unrealistic on HOY honors.

I didn't say anything about HOY. I don't give a s.hit about awards shows.

You read as well as you write, too. The wonders of a GED never cease.

She had it locked up before today's race so I don't see anything changing after.

Technically this is typing but being the brilliant homo you are, much in the likeness of Wilde, you'll weasel your way out of it.

There is 2 racing worlds, the one where they they race on the funny stuff, and the one where they race on God's Brown Dirt. HOY can live in an alternate universe. Who cares about awards? Rachel proved she's the best. Thanks Jess. This validated the Whitney. Commentator ran a hell of a race in his last one. West Coast is kind of like the minor leagues.

Beating Macho by a diminishing head at 1 1/8 miles makes you HOY? Whitney winner Bullsbay checked in 10th at Hol Gold Cup. Rachel wouldn't hit the board in Pacific Classic. Good 3yo filly... the Woodward aint what it use to be.
HOY = Rail Trip -- Gold Cup winner, Pacific Classic winner, Breeders Cup Classic winner.

What an idiotic post. By Rail Trip, do you mean Ball Four's whipping boy?

Let's see Rail Trip win the rubber match with Informed before we crown him anything.

You should learn to take race dynamics into consideration when creating opinions in thoroughbred racing.

By that kind of logic, then when you are referring to Rachel, you must mean, SaraLouise's, Garden District's, and Songstress's whipping boy?

dubai is a synthetic track, so i seriously doubt she shows up there.

i'd imagine they'll plan a campaign to culminate with the bc at churchill. maybe the met mile along the way? that would be sweet. but i'm really hoping to see them bring her to oaklawn for the apple blossom.

as for HOY, i think she's got it wrapped up. she's run and won from fed thru september. all wins, with five gr 1's in a row, including two wins over colts and a win in open company. not just the first filly to ever win the woodward, but also the first 3 yo to win that race since holy bull in '94.

Rachel 1-9

Zenyatta
Rail Trip
Summer Bird
Sea the Stars..... they all have outside chances but things would have to go perfect

Icon Project, I am putting her only because I beleive she is a stayer and at 1 1/4 could do some damage, maybe classic?
Gio Ponti..... these 2 need TONS OF HELP.

I dont see how anyone else has any prayer.

zenyatta would have to race in and win the classic to even be considered. i doubt they run her there.
summer bird lost to rachel, so i don't see him getting more votes then her.
rail trip just lost, so he's up against it.
euro horse getting hoy-we have tremendously good horses this year, so i would think he had no shot at an eclipse unless he ran in and won the turf, he could then steal the turf award from gio ponti.
icon project won't get hoy-she hasn't gone undefeated, and hasn't taken on the horses that rachel has faced.
gio ponti would have to win the classic, and even then i don't think he'd get the votes because he's been a turfer for much of the year.

rachel has accomplished quite a bit-i have a hard time seeing anyone taking the nod away-but there's still racing left, so we'll see.

the woodward was the icing on the cake. or are you conveniently ignoring all her other wins?

and lol at hoy=rail trip.

All I was saying is what if... Read my opening sentence. Right now she is clearly the leader. Rail Trip lost all chance yesterday, regardless of what he does from now on. I would guess the only ones with a Hope to win it are... Zenyatta, Sea the Stars and Summer Bird.

Rail Tripped is a dog. Zenyatta needs a lemonade stand to be considered great. Summer Bird was born the wrong year.

Freddy its all what if. It really dont matter to me. But if Zenyatta goes into the Classic undefeated and beats the Birds and Sea the Stars, she will win it. If Summer Bird wins the JCGC and Classic, I think he has a shot.
