yea.. i used a chalky pick 4 to back up my Susan/Preakness dbls on Rachel and Friesan Fire

alive to Pioneer and Big Drama in the pick 4.

5 horses deep in the 11th...

hopefully it still pays something

I figure a lot of people used Rachel as the single as soon as they heard of the guaranteed pick 4 pool. So it may or may not be a worthwhile gamble

Regardless, you are going to get paid somehow. Did you play it on youbet? They had a promotion of a 10,000 dollar bonus divided amongst all those that hit the pimlico pick 4. I figure that to pay 50 cents each. LOL!

More Derby-Preakness trivia...

# of horses finishing in the money in the Preakness that didn't run in the Derby:

1998: 1 (Classsic Cat finished 3rd in the Preakness)
1999: 1 (Badge, 3rd)
Top 2 in Derby finished 1-2 in the Preakness in those 2 years

2000: 1 (Red Bullet, Won)
2001: None
2002: 1 (Magic Weisner, 2nd)
2003: 1 (Midway Road, 2nd)
2004: 2 (Rock Hard Ten, 2nd and Eddington 3rd...Smarty won by 11+)
2005: 1 (Scrappy T, 2nd)
2006: 2 (Bernardini Won and Hemingway's Key 3rd)
2007: None
2008: 2 (Macho Again, 2nd and Ichabad Crane 3rd)

I am hoping only 1 finishes the in money this year, and that it is RA, preferably not 1st.

Nope, Wesley gets the same dumbass ride he got in the Muniz. My horses run 3rd and 4th. Chalkfest.

preakness gotta be more formful than the Derby was this year.
Both of the big name newcomers will be up on the pace so likely one falters.

Chalk annoys me. Live in the late P4 to Rachel, Papa Clem, MTB and POTN.

Bobby Fischer 05-16-2009 04:24 PM

Steve Crist wrote about this the other day. Back when Giacomo won the Derby, the biggest price in a 14-horse Preakness was 27-1. People get emboldened to bet longshots when a bomb wins the Derby.
