and Borel could keep the mount we dont know that?

I don't know about assuming Wiggins being taken care of by current (or future) owners. Jerry Brown of Thorograph posted publically on his site that he currently has a lawsuit pending against Rachel's co-owner Lauffer for not paying the fees after they hired him to find her for them for purchase. That obviously didn't encumber the current sale.

Rachel's owners are not any more impressive to me than her new connections.

While I see what your saying, if Borel got pulled for her just because of a change in ownership, it would be so wrong on so many levels.

Coach Pants 05-06-2009 05:18 PM

If Wiggins gets $250,000 out of the deal he's making out like a bandit...and chances are he'll get much more than that.

Guess you don't appreciate her future winnings potential on the racetrack as I do.

You need to re-word this, it is against ONE of the owners. From all accounts, Morrison and Wiggins have a long standing relationship and a good one at that.

that would be pretty cool if he doesnt go to Assface.

There is absolutely no reason not to run her as a four year old unless she isnt sound of course.

Travis Stone 05-06-2009 05:20 PM

IF she goes, she'll make the Preakness 100x more interesting than it currently is.

you always look at things as glass half empty dont you??

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the owners, and I bet the trainer will be a-o-k also.

It would be stupid to replace Borel on this horse, i doubt it happens unless its Borels choice.

its kind of funny... we dont even know if Borel would be replaced and we're already supposed to feel bad for him.

I'm sure he is even happy for the owners right now.

You're right, it's against Lauffer. Done.

I'd sell her for 10 million, too - but I think I'd try and work out a Secretariat-type deal where I could still race her and control the racing career, and they have the majority interest at retirement.

I wouldn't mind seeing Borel's run continue - he's earned it.

:zz:

she doesnt have a pair of nuts between her legs..

that kind of deal wouldnt make sense... unless it was for significantly less money.

LOL - no, I'm alot more optimistic and tolerant than many here. But jerks are jerks - having alot of money or making a good sale or having good luck doesn't change their spots.

I doubt the current owners made a deal to take care of Wiggins. I hope I'm wrong. Like you say, it'd be silly to mess with success, we don't know if Wiggins and Borel will be out yet - except Jackson has already hemmed and hawed and avoided answering the question. So they are not "in".

good for the connections though... I bet the money is real nice, for a FILLY! (i'd sell her probably)

argggh, not the ASSman. i'm not surprised-except that it's taken this long for a legit deal to shake out.
someone offers ten mill, ya take it. well, i'd sell most of her, and keep a small % for myself. that way, you get the money, and still keep a piece of her.

but assman?! sheeesh

Chuck can probably fill us in on what the typical trainer cut is on a sale like this. I thought it was 5% or so.
