If you are going to cut me off in traffic... you should be banned from operating a motor vehicle....I could get badly hurt or killed....in fact I'm probably a lot more likely to get hurt or killed by a careless driver than I am a careless firearms owner

and a revolver... a bolt action... a lever action... a pump....hell even a single shot weapon can be more dangerous in the wrong hands than a semi-automatic in the right hands

Payson Dave 02-21-2009 03:34 PM

Bob,.... are you saying that it would be okay for me to beat you to death with a baseball bat after you cut me off in traffic... or shoud we outlaw baseball bats because in the wrong hands they can be a deadly weapon

The amount of effort and follow through to beat someone to death with a baseball bat vs the adrenaline rush of one pull of a semi auto are two different things. And I don't think anyone ever accidently beat themselves, or another person to death with a baseball bat

Payson Dave 02-21-2009 03:37 PM

I realize that I'm not going to change your mind... I hope you realize that you are not going to change mine

btw one pull of the trigger on a semi-auto is no different that one pull of the trigger on a single shot

yep..although I have to admit that I know I am extreme about my wanting all guns banished, but really think I'm right about drawing the line with semi automatics and up..

anyway...moving on

Did anybody else read the lead story in the Chicago Tribune today?

AeWingnut 02-21-2009 05:04 PM

Adolph Hitler was for gun control

in order for evil to triumph
all that has to happen is for a good man to do nothing

"Gun Free" zones always are until they aren't

the only ones that have to worry when an honest man has a gun is a dishonest one.

God created man
Sam Colt made them equal

guns prevent more violent crime than are caused by them..

anyway... in Florida they had to quit putting little stickers on rental cars because Florida allows conceal carry and the thieves knew that the people from out of state didn't have guns

without the 2nd amendment none of the other amendments have teeth

Would somene please tell me why owning a gun, letting your neighbor own a shot gun and letting the weird dude two blocks over owning a machine gun a rite of passage?...it's got to be phallic at some point

i read through the entire thread just now.

the only hope for the future i hold is the knowledge that a handgun is more likely to be used to kill an acquaintance or yourself than a stranger.

so the gene pool seems safe.

considering that most murder victims know their killer (domestic disputes, suicide rates) you're correct. i however don't think ownership of a gun suddenly means you're a crazed, clueless rube bent on destruction.

Assaulting the Constitiution

By the way, Bob, I was RIGHT:) ... this has led to interesting and diverse discussion...

http://rense.com/general85/pcrg.htm

Some highlights from the article:

"Gun violence" is not something committed by the vast majority of gun owners. "Gun violence" is the preserve of the criminal elements, such as gangs fighting over drug turf. Criminals are already prohibited from owning guns, but criminals pay no more attention to this law than they do to laws against robbery, rape, and murder. Why do Democrats think that disarming law-abiding citizens will disarm outlaws?

So much for gun bans. They only disarm the law-abiding and leave them defenseless."

Please feel free to replace the word Democrats with Politicians.

good for you! it always kills me when people get offended such as in your case-but if they'd just pay their damn bill, they wouldn't have YOU to blame for their troubles. hope you like it there.
