"There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white."

"It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."

"I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela."

These are real quotes from his book. I guess it's a matter of opinion as to what he really meant while writing it, but I was insulted when I read it myself. Sorry, but I don't like racism on ANY front.

This was typical of his early days just like any younger person.
He had no identity and he was trying to find one. Obama is one
guy who can clearly identify with many backgrounds. His life
has been extraordinarily diverse. He admits his meanderings
to try and find where he belongs.

And I am going to sound like a sap for saying this: I think
he understands the melting pot of America as well as, if not
more than any politician we have ever had run for president.
This is NOT a hateful man.
It is really not fair to make him seem like one.

This has long been a trick of the Democrats... Demonize
the opposition. Republican's now go for "the black man hates
you" jugular. Its repulsive.

I really feel that your interpretation is spot on as to how someone half and half would come to grips with persona ..

I have seen the exact passages posted elsewhere to confirm Obama's racist thoughts ...

Clipping but that segment out of many can be misconstrued , but to me, even as it was presented, I see a man struggling with himself and his images and soul ...

John Edwards had an affair, and it seems that he has disappeared from the face of the Earth. But you have a guy who is weeks away from being President with some sort of link/ties to a terrorist and a racist minister. Does it intrigue you at least a little bit?

What intrigues me is a that a Vice Presidential Candidate repeated an obvious lie in a debate, and nobody seems to care. McCain said "the fundamentals of our economy are strong," and Palin (because she is a nutty female, people let her get away with it) keeps repeating the lie that McCain was talking about the American Workers(as being the fundamentals he was talking about.) It was a mistake he made. They crafted a lie to try to clean it up. We all know it's a lie, but this piece of white trash thinks people will put up with her telling a lie to a national audience. If she wasn't a female, I know Biden would of been all over her for doing that again, but oh no. Can't be too rough on the female. Just let her openly lie, and you're worried about somebody Obama worked with, or went to church with? How about somebody looking in the camera and repeating a known lie? Doesn't bother you as much. Doesn't surprise me, because Bush has been a consistent liar. Most of this year, he and Paulson were lying openly about the economy. Simply trying to make it through the election before this thing blew up.

How dare he confess to struggling with racial identity growing up as a biracial boy without a father.

You're right, you poor, discriminated white people should all be outraged at his blatant racism. It's about time somebody stood up for the little guy! LULZ.

You are justifying his racism and mocking white people. It's 2008. He's not that old. He didn't experience the god damn civil rights movement AND he was in Hawaii to begin with.

Spare me the god damn sob story.

Mortimer 10-10-2008 11:41 PM

Thank you all for shedding some white on this.

Coach Pants 10-10-2008 11:43 PM

Let me also add that I'm fed up with all of these fuc|<tards holding onto some crutch just so they can have someone feel sorry for them. Stop being a god damn ***** and grow a fuc|<ing sack and realize we live in one of the greatest times in human history, EVEN with a worldwide economy near collapse.

Sorry if I think it's a little funny when white people whine and act indignant about racism?
