my fav-holly hill inn for fine dining -chefs tasting menu, use only local in season ingrediants, but out in midway the mansion at griffen gate -fine dinig and malones off tates creek for the steak, thier is 2 and a oyster and sushi bar conntected and part of malones at tates creek location. of course breakfast at the track kitchen -not to bad and get quite a bit at reasonable price if you are on a budget. ans also if on a budget the wallace station-monday nights only -i think 5-8 or 9 cheap- fried chicken dinner, black eyed peas, collared greens- true southern dinner:) but overall lexinton leaves alot to be desired when it comes to great restaurants esp fine dining. and have a great time brian-safe travels

Thanks for all the suggestions -- a heavy bout of the Keeneland atmosphere getting to me, leading to too much drinking at the track, sort of killed any hope I had for seeing anything good or getting any good food.
With that said, those who talked about Lexington food being underwhelming certainly weren't kidding. A great time anyway, can't wait to go back. Outside of Arlington, it's probably my favorite track I've ever been to...and it may even actually give my home track a run for its money. Place was beautiful, the racing was great, the people were friendly, and the payoffs were plenty palatable all weekend :D |

but I'm comparing Keeneland to Fairmont where you are probably eatting the last place horse from last week. |
