The yankees will be rumored because the agents make sure of it but There has to be a limit on what they can do considering they are already paying a ton to Arod, have a bunch of guys to resign, need to address the rotation and bullpen, may have to find a catcher and move posada to DH, have Jeter to sign, i think next year...

The Mets are a great fit, not to mention with him being a switch hitter, he adds a lot of flexability to the lineup.

Jeter is signed up two more years at $20 million and then $21 million. At that point he'll have to take less money to stick around.

They can always plug someone in at first if Delgado goes bad. They proved this year that you can't plug someone in as closer and setup man.

Nathan signed an extention with MN earlier this year. I think he got 47 million through 2012. Krod is going to cost at least that much and probably more if he has a good postseason. Fuentes wants like $8 million a year and wants to close. The Mets have a pretty good contract situation and if they pay the luxury tax, so be it.

Fuentes won't get $8 million to close anywhere, that is crazy talk. He couldn't even keep the job from Manny Corpas in '07. Sucks that Nathan signed already, that leaves it to Lidge and K-Rod who will get paid. I guess a trade for Huston Street is always possible since the A's have Joey Devine ready to step in.

What about a guy like Dan Wheeler? He has done a great job filling in for Percival this season.

Street is supposedly a question mark to pass the physical. Sherill from the O's is a cheaper alternative but you have to trade for him. I bet Fuentes gets it or close to it.

I know you are going to go crazy but maybe they should trade Reyes. What if they traded Reyes to the dodgers and made them take castillo's contract and some filler for Kemp/Ethier, Billingsley and prospect. Then sign Furcal or Orlando Caberera and Orlando Hudson and Teixiera. That gives them a great infield, takes care of left field until martinez is ready and gets you a pitcher too. I guess the Dodgers may not do it but they signed Juan Pierre to a long term contract so who knows?

He had a shot in Houston and blew it. NY will be tougher though he would make a great addition to the bullpen anywhere. The Mets need more than just a closer also.

Mike McDougal might be available

I don't see them trading Reyes so it is irrelevant, they are determined to build around their current core. He only makes $5.75 million next year anyways so still offers good value.

Exactly the time to trade him. That way they can stick Castillos contract in there as well. Of course Minaya probably still thinks it was a good deal

Minaya really has brought this on all by himself. From getting rid of guys like Heath Bell, Matt Lindstrom and not re-signing an effective guy like Chad Bradford last year. He gave guys like Castillo and Pedro extra years but he tried to be stingy with a guy like Bradford.

Also, do you think that they might be able to get a guy like JJ Soria from the Royals. I thought I heard late in the season that they had a very good prospect that was ready to close for the big team. Smallmarket team that is always looking for players and will probably not be able to pay Soria when is contract is up (whenever that is).

I'm not sure if he blew a lead in the bottom of the 9th inning of game 7 of the World Series but for one team only.

Soria is locked up through 2012 with a very good contract for KC. Smart move by them.
