You would have a lot more horses developing temperatures

with the increases in handle, the money from slots...why aren't the top purses rising?
two networks that didn't exist a few years ago....coverage (albeit sporadic) on espn, etc....

so why don't the top purses go up? there have been across the board increases, yet the tops don't move an inch.

is it that the other races are the ones that sustain much of the industry?

there needs to be an incentive to run the best vs the best. trick is finding that incentive, and being able to afford it.

how valuable are eclipse awards to a horses future earnings in the shed? what if it was on a points system, rather than a vote? then those who dance the dances get rewarded, rather than a few that get votes based on name recognition.

conversation between Frankel and Stewards

BF: Yes this Bobby Frankel i need to scratch my horse from the race as i've started running a temp. I mean my horse has started running a temp.
ST: Very well Mr. Frankel make sure your horse brings in a doctors note.

true, there needs to be a system where you race for points to win awards not name recognition. I also believe the breeders talk about the sire's awards when trying to book mares, Like Tiznow uses twice BC Classic winner, and if any of their previous babies have done good they mention that also

In other Travers news, Tiz Wonderful is out.

From a betting standpoint, I'd love to see Rags in the Travers, as it would ease the odds just slightly on Street Sense.

I think Rags will give Street Sense more than he could handle in the race if she goes. It won't be CP West out there for Street Sense to stagger by this time. I'd never take 2/1 or 5/2 on a filly in an open race but I'd also never bet Street Sense at 7/5 against her either.

I would agree if it weren't for the layoff since June on Rags. I just don't think she'll be completely ready.

I thought Mike Vick was a bad guy but I guess I'll have to go kill a couple of dogs to be qualified to comment.

Taking cheap shots at success in no way makes you a bad guy.

Mentioning Vick's name, even satirically, is doing one's self a great disservice.

Good luck Sunday if your race goes.

You've picked up an amazing amount of information in one day here.

No shock there. When you go from In to possible to "we'll have a conference call to decide" that usually means OUT. I wonder what happened, not trainwell or mayber looking at The PA Derby as an easier spot to win

Where did I take a cheap shot? The fact is that Frankel hates to not be 4/5 and wont run unless all things under the sun are pointing in his direction. I'll say it on here, on the radio, to Bobby himself. I'm sure that he could care less with what I say and would probably agree with me. As for Pletcher, he is always keeping his better horses away from each other which may make sense for HIS business but is bad for just about everyone else. I'm sure he could care less what I say and he would probably agree that he does just what I said.

By the way it believe it was you who took the cheap shot but I forgive you.

Get ready for a cheap shot

The horse is not a 2 year old anymore. He's done.

Last time I looked you weren't two years old either. Therefore, you are completely unqualified to discuss the subject of 2 year olds.
Did I get that logic right Rags?

i'd have thought that to anyone who watched the way TW ran in his comeback, that that would have been painfully obvious.

 ..................

BTW what do we do with FD on Sat. ?

Doubt he's 4/5.

Never mind. Doubt he gets embarrassed. He's a pretty quick little fella.

Good race before I get him for the Malibu.

PS: Write this down and keep it in your pocket. Stay away from HIT Sales. You caught lightening in a barrel once and I still don't think she's the next "Searching". It's a bad per centage play. In the old days when tax sales by the big outfits came up every 5 years you could be a player. That game is gone with the wind. If you can find a dispersal sale they're OK, otherwise stay with the claiming box. As for buying ANY unraced horse @ ANY age, pleezze don't go there.

You're a good guy and I hope you have success. Think I read somewhere you were with TP for a while. Could be wrong on that one. Anyway that guy is some piece of work. He gives me nightmares.

Ask him where, and who taught him that one. ;)

BTW, the less you talk to media imbeciles and the less you make yourself available to owners and interviews the better off you will be. This one you can carve in stone.

Once again, all the best.
