I've commented very little on the Morty Phenomenon. I'll simply say that I believe having him here, while not 100% pleasureable, is more a positive than a negative. I understand why people can find his 'performance art' annoying and a distraction, and I was in that camp initially myself.
However, his musings, if you take the time to read them and follow them, are genuinely smart and funny and frequently hysterical. I'm not trying to insult those that don't "get it" saying this. There isn't anything 'to get'... He is an agent provocateur here and most often defuses more than incites. But as an agitator, I understand that some are turned off. But most miss him when he goes on his frequent 'walkabouts' or would really miss him if he left. There's room for nearly any type of Internet denizen here, and though he does go over the top, generally he is 100% harmless and contributes to the atmosphere of manic frivolity that pervades the Forum. |

Can we get all that re-typed, in layman's terms? |
A quote from my favorite comedian Robin Williams:
"You're only given a little spark of madness, you mustn't lose it.":D |

Personally I've laughed at many things he has said, but I just don't think anyone should be so mean whether it's a joke to him or not and honestly it seems like you support him being mean to people. Like that whole Champagne Room thing? Sorry, Steve, but that was rude to me and granted I'm your guest here but I thought you were a kinder person than that. |

I apologize.. This takes me by surprise. It seemed at the time in that series of exchanges you were having fun with what was going on. If I was mistaken, I'm sorry that I contributed to any discomfort.. Bethani and I do our best to edit/delete things that we perceive are upsetting people and appear inappropriate. I clearly misinterpreted the situation. I don't think anyone goes out of their way to be mean in threads, including Morty. We try to be judicious in interpreting intent in monitoring the Forum, and have been accused over being overzealous a number times.. oblivious others.. with regards to people's sensitivities. I appreciate the frank assessment above and will take it to heart in regards to future scenarios. SB |
there is no kinder person in the world than steve byk............

Honestly, I didn't bring this up because I would like to see him go because I don't. We all know I was no saint when Grits pissed me off :o This forum should and is fun, but there is also a great wealth of information to read with people like yourself, Cannon, BTW, Drugs etc and I'm sure there are lots of people out there looking to improve their game that join up. But, at the same time, if a new poster doesn't understand the jokes around here they are not going to want to stay and I'm sure you don't want that. Again, thank you very much for the apology. |
