My old house at 10509 Way is where Christmas Story was filmed.

Mortimer 05-23-2008 11:02 AM

And Paul Revere School is where many Scream and Scream Again movies were filmed.

Mortimer 05-23-2008 11:03 AM

Good Fellas was filmed mostly on Way Avenue.

Is that where the CheapWhiskeyDancer originated?

Mortimer 05-23-2008 11:05 AM

Train Spotting also made use of my old house for many of its scenes.

I am reminded of your fine date story, which was one of my all time favorite NerdyTrail posts.

I don't remember all the details, but do know that it involved donuts and near death experiences.

Would it be possible to be directed to the location where this occurred?

Oh yes...I remember it well. The one that involved crazed Canadians...I believe.

I am almost sure Sighty-PooHO started that date thread here in eso.

I'll see what I can do.

OK....so......I once became embroiled in a battle of tits here. There were at least two who seemed to think the NFL is more important than the veterans who have fought in wars for this country...some died.

Let me make this clear....I am not a "my country right or wrong" guy.

But what I won't stand for is people not wanting to honor those who went through so much as to allow the great thoughts put down in our Constitution to live on.

I know they don't always get carried through in real life....and that True swine try to fucl< with the Constitution.

I think you catch my drift......but since I absolutely will not be here Monday ,nor ever again,I want to make sure someone remembers.

Don't forget those people who sacrificed so much....because when this country becomes overwhelmed by cheap suv driving, cell phone yakking colusionists---well then we're finished.

Don't let these TrueSwine win.

Don't forget our soldiers.

Thank you so much ,LateFires...I accept these on their behalf.

Mortimer 05-23-2008 01:10 PM

I think some of you believe I lied about a certain gangs clubhouse.

Go to Paul Revere Elementary School, 10706 Sandusky Ave, Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio, United States

You will have to click down west on the street until you reach 104th street....then look to your left or north.

You see that empty lot?

That was their clubhouse.

War Poem
casualties of war
© By Sherry L. Eichler

men go off to war
every generation pays it's dues
war does not discriminate
there are many ways to loose

some will live and some will die
some are caught between
for as fate twists it's crooked path
some slip into places unseen

war is never black and white
there are several different hues
often living is the hardest part
no one gets to choose

let not the surface fool you
not all casualties are carried
if the truth be told the soldiers we hold
are not the men we married

War Poem
I Looked in the Eyes of a Soldier
© By Angy M. Tarbutton

I looked in the eyes of a Soldier
So much did I see
All the adolescence innocence was gone
There stood a new man in front of me
I saw fear and frustration
The feeling of where do I fit in
If they only knew what I've done
They could never love me again!
I saw pride and self-confidence
He was a Soldier proud and true
He could take on anything
Bring on an enemy or two
I saw peace and remembrance
As he visited with family and friends
The memories of the good times
That he thought would never end
I saw the pain and suffering
As his mind drifted far away
Remembering the hell he's been in
Not knowing if he'll go back some day
I saw the anger and aggressiveness
That a soldier needs to survive
The temper rising back in the states
At the remarks from a wise guy
Before I looked away
Tears began to fall
Before me stood a Soldier
Who has given his life for us all!

War Poem
A Sniper's Tale
© By Captain Adam J. Gravseth

My belly presses the dirt
Prone, I am still
As sand covers me head to toe.

Desolate barren road,
Tiny grains swirling are blinding.
Still my scope searches for my foe.

A white pick up truck
A man scrambles to set his trap.
Right on time, just as I was told.

His eyes appear over a scarf.
A father perhaps, definitely one's son
To me he has no soul.

One last breath of life,
He jerks violently around
And left in an awkward fold.

The convoy follows
By taking one life
I have a hundred to show.

War Poem
MY BROTHER
© By April D. Williams

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY BROTHER

Where did the time go my brother, did we walk today?
In my spirit, in my mind, you're not far away.

Where did the time go my brother, did we share today?
Fond memories live in my heart, you'll be here always.

Where did the time go my brother, did we softly speak?
We'll share our joys and our pain, even while you sleep.

Where did the time go my brother, with teardrops in my eyes.
I will miss you everyday until the day I die.

War Poem
A Soldier
© By Monica J. Harris

Your Pride
Your Passion
Unprejudiced and Unparalleled
With Bravery and Courage
You stand steadfast all hours
Through Trouble, Fear, and Hatred
To weave the Blanket of Freedom
And lay it unselfishly
Around the shoulders of your countrymen

You are the Guardian of Honor
Of Liberty
Of Life
Your life is your God, Your Country, Your Corps
You are A Soldier
Once and Forever More
