Thome hits a homer on his 41st birthday! Hilarious. Back above .500! Detroit is officially in cruise control though. They can even win when Verlander doesn't pitch well now.

horseofcourse 08-27-2011 09:54 PM

Ozzie Guillen needs to shut his pie hole. It's laundary sir. When you remove the cleveland laundary, he had zero reason to be cheered especially when he's playing for assholes like you. You want a damn member of the chicago white sox to get a standing o in cleveland when he played there you moron?? Not gonna happen. He is now wearing proper laundary. He gets cheered again. It's not a tough concept Ozzie. There is zero hypocrisy at all going on. None.

horseofcourse 08-28-2011 12:20 PM

A guy named Head is in the outfield. Brantley done for year. It's a shame there haven't been more injuries this year.

clyde 08-28-2011 11:05 PM

I'm sorry ,HorseyCoursey...I cannot bear witness to this folly any longer.

They no longer exist in my world.

clyde 08-28-2011 11:06 PM

Gosh..I say ''folly" and I think of Arletta.

Very odd.

c'mon clyde just because the Head, Fuc< U, Carrera outfield wasn't in your plans you can't stop!!

(if you combine the healthy body parts of Chew, Brantley and Grady you almost come out with a complete outfielder!!)
(kenny's only 44 now, he came and played for us in 2007, I say we go get him too to join Jimmy! Manny's unaffiliated at present too.)

slotdirt 08-29-2011 10:37 AM

Go get yourself some Ellis Burks and you'd have a complete set.

slotdirt 08-29-2011 10:47 AM

Thinking of old Indians outfielders...I can't remember the circumstances of the offseason trade that sent Brian Giles to the Pirates for Ricardo Rincon. I'd have to say based on post-Cleveland careers that the Pirates (and later the Padres) got the better of that deal.

The circumstances were we had Manny, Lofton, and Justice and he was the 4th outfielder and we thought all we needed was a bad lefty specialist to put us over the top!! We were wrong. We also had Robbie Alomar, Travis Fryman, Sandy Alomar...so Giles' offense was certainly not an overwhelming need at that time. Rincon just wasn't that missing piece however!

slotdirt 08-29-2011 01:38 PM

Just seems they could have had a lot more for a 26 year old outfielder who'd go on to play in the All Star game a number of times. Situational lefties are a dime a dozen!

clyde 08-29-2011 04:16 PM

The trades for Lofton and Baerga/Alomar,just to name 2,far outweighed the Pittsburgh fleecing.

They had no need for Giles and Giles showed little here of what he went on to do with Pitt. Was worth the gamble.

Must we argue about the past?

slotdirt 08-29-2011 09:06 PM

No, but can we talk about the Tigers pending collapse? 20 runs in two games to the Twins and Royals and no Verlander until Friday. I'm telling you guys, these guys are going to go like 8-20 down the stretch.

clyde 08-29-2011 09:27 PM

What's to worry?

They'll run away with it at 8-20.

Tribe only has to go 2-29 their last 31 to surpass last year's win total!! I think it's almost doable.

clyde 08-30-2011 03:05 PM

!

I love your misplaced enthusiasm.

horseofcourse 08-31-2011 02:47 PM

Now it's the Obaldo/Exhausto daily double for the sweep!!

(for slotdirt...I saw Santiago hit a game winning homer in extras yesterday...I believe that was the Tiggers Kearns hitting a game winning homer against the Yankees moment equivalent!)

slotdirt 08-31-2011 03:04 PM

First time since 1973 that a guy had come in as a pinch runner and hit a game winning homer. Ramon Santiago will never be confused with either Raul Ramon Mondesi or Benito Santiago.

horseofcourse 09-01-2011 01:53 PM

AFter 10 shutout last night and 4 perfect from Herrmann!! Some guys named Hag-Done and Kluber were pitching relief for the Tribe today. They have obviously gone to the clyde strategy of letting fans in the stands pitch games out of the pen. Chew officially to the DL!! (Grady officially on rehab assignment, our league strikeout championship is near clinching now!) that guy named Head can't hit or field. He's the outfield version of Dopey (dopey did score the winning run in the 16th last night when he was out as the umps were sick and tired of two bad teams attempting to hit so he is in the highlights!).

clyde 09-01-2011 02:38 PM

:zz:

horseofcourse 09-01-2011 03:10 PM

It's expanded roster time none too soon!! We're gonna see everybody clyde. Even rumors of Hafner coming back! I wonder if I own more baseball gloves than Hafner and Thome combined?? (I think we struck out 29 times the last two days, granted one was 16 innings, but 29 in two days...nice!! And that is even before Grady is playing again! We are now taking no prisoners in the strikeout race, we aim to take it to the line and dominate. )

clyde 09-01-2011 03:28 PM

!!!!OOOOOOOOOO!!!!

horseofcourse 09-01-2011 05:55 PM

I am not fooled by anything. We just had a 6-5 homestand with the dregs of the AL. Seattle, KC and Oakland. We showed we're even steven with them pretty much. There is no longer anyone on the team above a .280 average. (oh wait, I take that back...Hafner, .281. No one on the team with an above .281 average!)

clyde 09-01-2011 06:14 PM

Too many wounds that won't heal.Though they've given a valiant effort,5.5 to make up with only 28 to go is really much too much.

It's catchy, even if it's in another form.....3 more Ohio State players will sit the first game.2 are starters. They tried to make some money.

You can't do that.

That's only for coaches and administrators and hangers one.

The game ,in recognition of all this noise, is a sell out.

college football is a complete cariacature of itself. Ohio State just happened to win the NCAA roulette game this time. Only Nick Saban and Urban Meyer are above board and clean! They do/did it the right way. :D:D thank God Herbstreit is on EVPN to sort it all out for everyone and highly educate us. What a clown car that guy rides.

clyde 09-01-2011 08:58 PM

^^^^ 9.7

horseofcourse 09-02-2011 09:31 AM

Just once, I'd like to see EVPN do a two hour special on the problems of college athletics and see Lou Holtz, Mark may, and Herbstreit sitting their and open with "we are the problem with college athletics", and then have 1 hour 59 minutes and 55 seconds of empty screen and that would be a great show. AS it was ramping up it was nice, EVPN would televise some extra games. Dating myself but when I was a kid you had the same 15 games on ABC every year...OSU/Michigan, Oklahoma/Nebraska, USC/UCLa, USC/Notre Dame, Penn State/Pitt, Auburn/Alabama and a few out of conference big matchups and that was it. You could count the number of times you saw Washington play in between the Sonny Sixkiller/Warrren Moon eras on your fist (http://i.cdn.turner.com/sivault/si_o...1004_large.jpg). You saw more of Steve Prefontaine's hair on TV than Oregon Duck football. Oregon football is now perhaps the most corrupt of all. Living in Idaho, the blue turf people seems like the meek rising and all that cool story crap, but stuff is now starting to come out about those guys and that program slowly but surely, Oh my God! With EVPN televising games every single day of the week but Monday, I will likely have the opportunity to see NOrthern Illinois or Southern Miss more this year than I saw of Oregon combined for 25 years.

Wait, Digger Phelps got a new high liter....uh oh. Where's Jay Bilas on that scoop?

clyde 09-02-2011 09:44 AM

snort!!!!

That was mighty fine work...and so true.

Don't feel bad about dating yourself; I took me out last Saturday night, found out I'm not that much fun.

Anyways,it is out of control especially with that network.Beyond other things, it's so over hyped I can't understand why it hasn't eaten itself. They have taken the fun out of it.

Soon, cfb will have only 3 conferences...maybe just two. There will be at least 25 teams in each conference and they'll have 4 divisions and a play off at regular season's end....probably involving 20 teams. That's the 4 division winners and 16 wild cards. Then ,in a very complicated system, they will select conference pre and post season champs, some division winners and select wild cards to play in the Globalist BCS.The selection process for the bowls will be tv'd on a pay per view basis and will be 36 hours long.

horseofcourse 09-02-2011 06:07 PM

In response to Trevor Crowe asking what there was to do in Columbus, Chris Perez simply suggested he "get tattoos."

Gold.

(he doesn't always close well, but he's very funny!!)

clyde 09-02-2011 06:51 PM

I have always said...if you can't do your job properly,at least be funny.

That's why I like all politicians.

horseofcourse 09-02-2011 08:11 PM

Asdrubal Cabrera hits a two run homer in the top of the 3rd, leaves the game with an injury in the bottom of the 3rd. Very nice. Maybe we'll get even more Valbuena now!! (but first of course, more Dopey Phelps!)

clyde 09-02-2011 08:49 PM

Has been by bunches our best every day player. They're probably saying it's a minor boo-boo...and Monday he will undergo reconstructive body surgery and be put on the 720 day DL.

clyde 09-02-2011 08:50 PM

Oh...the ''V" word.

I was hoping you would no longer use it.

More good news. Tommy John surgery for Carrasco!! Thank God we have Pomeranz and White since we lost this guy til 2013. :):)

clyde 09-02-2011 10:08 PM

Holy Mother of GOD!!

thud

horseofcourse 09-02-2011 10:13 PM

I love America's team. I've never seen an injury parade like this in my lifetime and they just keep on going and recovering from what looks like the definite end, time after time. Fuc< U I have to admit was a very nice pickup especially with the Brantley season ender and the Chew again injury. He's hit quite well and is at least a journeyman MLB player who made it the end for Urns. The bullpen has been just great those 5 guys. They've all had slumps but seem to recover and start going great again.

clyde 09-02-2011 10:28 PM

Would have to agree and without sounding like a complete sap, as much as we make fun of them; they just keep hanging in there and given what it is...keeping things in their place on the food chain,etc....I have to say I'm proud of the warriors.

clyde 09-05-2011 12:33 PM

Know what I think ,Coursey?

Change of heart...I feel a Field of Dreams may be at play. The Tribe sweeps Detroit.Masterson throws his best game and a tiring Verlander gets hit for 7 big ones in the 7th, including 4 home runs.

Newly signed Randy Moss hits a grand slam in the 8th.

clyde 09-05-2011 03:45 PM

They make me sick.

Not me, they're just not as good as Detroit...simple as that. Obaldo pitched ok again...3 straight now. Stinking Victor. I remember him!! That Fister was a great deadline pickup for them and I think I reported it first (at least I said a better pickup starting pitcher than Obaldo and as good as Obaldo was today, fister was better)!! They can do some damage to the Red Sox or Yankees whichever one they play first round (they can go 3 deep in their rotation now instead of 2). They better.

I have no clue what kind of clown show the Browns will be this year, good or bad.

clyde 09-05-2011 09:44 PM

I really joke around a lot more than am serious, but you're are right..Detroit is much a better team at this point.

And you did say that about Fister,,you were right.

Gee, the Browns are rebuilding.

So strange.

At least there's Ohio State...what's left of them.
