We've been doing this for like 2 years right? I don't think anyones mind is changing at this point.

This has to be the single most dumb non Clyde, non Zenyatta thread in the history of DT.

Eighty plus posts and counting???

My take? The Osterman dude, or whatever the fuk his name is, was being facetious, and everything else is much ado about nothing.

Probably should have slept on it, cowboyed up and not reached out in a moment of weakness.

Toughen up pu.ssy.

Surrender Noted

Aren't the French and their servants the ones who are supposed to surrender?

For those that thought "darn it" was inappropriate....

Parx, Race 2, 12-26-11, the track announcer just shoehorned this gem into his call:

"This race raises the question, will Jeff Fisher or Bill Cowher be the coach of the San Diego Chargers next year?"

You, of all people, need to put that surprised look away.

Isn't that Lederman at Parx? I'm watching TVG today, and I'm impressed by the gal calling the races at Woodbine Harness. Pleasant voice with just a touch of a Canadian twang.

No clue, but his cuteness with that comment was lost on me. I haven't watched any more from Parx today, maybe he's trying to be funny in every race and I'm missing the joke?

Really? She seems like a slighty less nasaly version of Battaglia to me.

He injects some comedy into his calls. He's also dealing with brain cancer at the moment and his prognosis, at first, was very bad. I'm not sure what the situation is now.

I'm very sorry that he has cancer.

I don't mind announcers injecting humor if the humor has something to do with the horses names in the race or something that happened during the race. I do mind announcers forcing lines into a race that have no relevance to the race. Speaking of Bill Cowher and Jeff Fisher in the middle of the second race at Parx was at the very least, distracting.

I didn't hear it, but it has to be the guy that calls Freehold. He does stuff like that all the time.

..and for the record, I don't wager on Freehold. (or Parx)

I believe it is Dawn Lupal calling the harness at Woodbine on Monday. She is one of the simulcast hosts for the Woodbine thoroughbreds and is a pretty sharp handicapper. She was in California a week or so ago and was on TVG. I thought she did pretty well also for what isn't her 'real' job.

Oaklawnfan 12-27-2011 10:01 AM

It's no secret that I truly enjoy Mr. Stauffer's calls. He uses his talents to call a less than hotly popular sport and make it understanding and entertaining. I must say I perfer it over "do re me fa sol la ti do" Mr. Durkin's colorful calls.;)
