Well, they covered, so I don't think the fix was in. I think the decision to throw was brutal - run one up the gut there and the jets have around 45-50 seconds left to get in field goal range (though Julian Peterson made that a moot point). I also thought LT was pretty clearly tackled in bounds with about 1:38 left and in Jets territory and the ref ruled he made it out of bounds. That's another 15-20 seconds.

That being said, teams shouldn't give up 10 point leads with 3:00 to play in the NFL. I'm over moral victories. This one really stung.

How about Sanchez scoring at 3:00, 11 seconds running off the clock before the ref makes the TD signal, then 3 more seconds inexplicably running off before they stop it at 2:46? That was ridiculous.

Sorry slot, tough loss. Jets really have to cut out the penalties and start forcing some turnovers again. Nice to get another game we usually lose. Great performance outta the Pats today by the way. Exposed.

The Pats sucked today, no doubt about it. We are still tied for first though.

No, 'we're' not. The Jets own the tiebreaker and are in first.

Yes this is true, but you also have to play NE again, in NE.

Its fine gales... At this point, I dont think either team is going to the Super Bowl. We cant stop the run, run, and have no deep thread. Sanchez will hold the Jets back against Pittsburg/Baltimore.

Yeah, but why should they be worried, Peyton F.uckin Hillis ran like he was Jim Brown today. What's Tomlinson going to do when they play at Foxboro?

NE is a dead team , not this year with this defense

the Jets got other problems , but, it's not NE

They are my team, I know they suck this year and the record is not really justice... What do you want me to say though? I have to defend my team....

Ok the Pats ****ing suck this year. Like I said in a thread earlier this week. The Jets have better RB's WR's and Defense... If the Pats were 1-5 I would not be suprised, I would say with the upcoming draft picks, and youth on defense and Tight Ends its a rebuilding year. Being 6-2 is some sort of miracle I guess.... I think Baltimore will represnt the AFC in the Super Bowl, I would not be suprised if the Pats did not even make the playoffs. Im not sure we are better the Oakland, Kansas City or the Titans right now. Not to mention the Jets, Steelers, Ravens....

See Joseph, that wasn't that hard.
Tomorrow night we'll work on your little sports gambling problem. But now I'm going to bed because I have a headache from watching the same 9 horses run around the track at Mountaineer every race. I swear they are the same horses and they just change the saddlecloths. You have a good night.

The victim role doesn't suit you. You have stopped since when? A few hours ago? You'll be back to the real you in a day or so.

I just think it's funny when people try and take you on as their pet project. Math is a really good guy and trying to be nice. Way too nice.

You enjoy the back and forth. Otherwise you wouldn't always do it.

slotdirt 11-08-2010 06:12 AM

The Pats might suck, but they'd be undefeated if they only had to play NFC teams. Man, is that whole conference mediocre.

Antitrust32 11-08-2010 07:28 AM

Eagles might actually have a good team. Vick and the offense are electric.. minus the putrid OL... and the defense gets it together SOMETIMES. Dimitri Patterson >>>>> Ellis Hobbs. Still pissed they kept Hobbs on Kenny Britt two weeks ago.

Eagles had to beat Peyton Manning AND the refs today.. so it was a great win. Refs gave the colts 10-14 points.

so all you have to do it touch someone's head lightly for that flag to be thrown? Trent Cole made a hell of a play.

It's an automatic flag if you touch the QB's helmet, or it's supposed to be. It's a ridiculous rule but it was the right call by the book. Funny thing is the play before that I thought Manning got hit in the head too and was surprised they didn't call it.

On another note, how about Arian Foster losing a TD yesterday on a play similar to the Calvin Johnson TD in Week 1? Dude catches a screen, breaks the plane by 2-3 yards, then loses the ball when he touches the ground to regain his balance. That rule needs to be changed yesterday.

slotdirt 11-08-2010 08:43 AM

It's the right call, but it's also a call that is probably the rule the most inconsistently interpreted in the entire NFL. Come on, that little pat-pat on Peyton's head was a personal foul? Ndamukong Suh does that three times a game and aside from the preseason Delhomme corkscrew, I haven't seen any personal fouls called on him at least in the last few games.

I'll admit that I have a soft spot in my heart for him.
One because he has kids, and obviously there is a personal issue there. So I do feel bad for him in that aspect. I'm a father too and my two boys are the most important people in my world and I couldn't imagine how it would be to be seperated from them for any extent of time. Now, That's just a guess on my part and I really have no idea what his situation is, it's just my perception.
Two, he provides so much entertainment for me, that it's almost priceless. Whatever role he is playing, I find it funny. So if I could give him a little free advice, I consider it payback for the comedy that he provides for me.
Three, I am a really nice guy ;) oh yeah and kind of handsome too.........

It was a terrible call, but we all know that Peyton is the golden child of the NFL. Does Colt Mccoy or Josh Freeman get that call, I want to say no.

I was out during the Jets game, but I have a question, I heard that Suh was the FG kicker at his HS, but wouldn't you think at this point in their careers that the Lions punter would have had a better shot at making the extra point? I'll admit that it's an obvious second guess. It wasn't a bad attempt because he hit the post, but it's little decisions like that which can cost you games in the long run.
I just thought it was strange.

the punter and place kicker have two different motions matt , it would kinda like be asking linda rice to give up all her turf horses and try and win a meet up at the spa with dirt only horses , just not going to happen:D:D

Come on Marty, don't give me that crap. Besides, didn't Jay Feeley punt for the Jets last year in a big game? If you know how to kick a football, a 19 yard kick shouldn't be that much of a stretch for them.
Wouldn't you think that a high number of punters in the NFL kicked at some point in the lives whether if their HS or Colleges?
He had to be a better option.

it's the lions matt, they are a cursed franchise

jets are 6-2 after the first 8 , while not pretty , at worst i think they can go 4-4 and get to 10 wins

NE is a fraud with no defense , jets s/b able to win this divison

I couldn't believe that either. It was like a Madden scenario. The kicker goes down and for some reason Ndamukong Suh is the backup kicker. The fact that the punter wasn't kicking the PAT was crazy to me. I know kicking and punting aren't the same, but at least the punter gets paid to kick the ball for living, not eat quarterbacks. Great job by Brandon Moore on Suh yesterday by the way, made him a total non-factor. Moore should get to the Pro Bowl this year, it's long overdue.

I agree it's the Jets division to lose. At the worst I see 5-3 in the second half.
I stand by my statement, that they can go as far as Sanchez takes them.

slotdirt 11-08-2010 10:29 AM

The punter is also the holder. I think Schwartz decided he'd rather have a sure-fire snap than a sure-fire kick.

nebrady 11-08-2010 10:32 AM

Don't forget you go to cleveland next week!

Congrats jets your tied with pats again! Yes we got beat up but don't forget cleveland is a much better team than you think. Lets see how you do this week against them. Remember they also beat the saints! So get off your high horse were tied again at 6-2. Its one loss what you gonna say if new england beats both pittsburgh and indy in the next 2 weeks? Especially when we beat you in foxboro!

To be perfectly honest, the Jets do not have a hard schedule. I'm pretty confident they'll lose this week, but other than this week and road games at New England and Pittsburgh there ain't much on there. Houston can be dangerous but it's at home and they're back to being Houston...the Bills, Bears?? Miami at home. Cincy?? I think they'd have to play pretty bad to not go at least 5-3 the second half. And I will say if they get a miracle win this week, they'll go 7-1 the second half. Because they will know what a feat that would be.

Maybe Suh is the backup scenario. It looked pretty natural to me, and he has a soccer background and he bombed the kick....looks like he can easily go 40 plus yards. It hit the upright. My guess is he could probably make 75 to 80 percent of them. Do you make 75 to 80 percent of 2 point conversions? I can't believe how much criticism this is getting. Welker kicked an extra point for NE and made it but didn't look as good as Suh's attempt. I'm pretty sure Schwartz put Suh out there not to be funny, but it was his best chance to make an extra point.
