That wouldn't be funny if it weren't so true. Hence the philscki banning debacle.

I've witnessed some pretty pathetic butthurt on the internet in the past 15 or so years and that is definitely top 5 material.

I don't know this, but I'm going to guess you are banned at PA as well? Am I warm?

I had an account I trolled with a few years ago that was darted but it was used purely for the politics forum...you know the one where he eats and s.hits at when he's on those late night tilts?

philcski 07-11-2010 03:05 PM

The crazy thing about this is I don't even care about getting banned over there. To put it in perspective- I had posted maybe 100 times, total, versus what 7,000+ here?

Also, for full disclosure, I told PA to ban me if he thought it was ban-able to not like someone, even the owner, and express it elsewhere (not nearly as strongly as CJ reported it to be). I had never once posted anything inflammatory over there. The strongest comment was calling poster "Tom" "right wing and narrow minded" which is akin to calling Tiger Woods a "player".

No, I don't go into politics. I figured you were banned. You should apply for a moderator position. It doesn't pay anything, but it beats changing the grease on the deep fryer.

How about you pick my application up? Shouldn't take you too long with those 9 minute miles, Prefontaine.

herkhorse 07-11-2010 03:09 PM

Steven H. Crist, I missed a race reading this s.hit. lol

I sure will. I'm no Prefontaine, but I do ok for a 43 year old fat guy. I'm sure you are quite the athlete.

Ok it's a few 100 miles but look on the bright side...you'll be skinny when you get here.

You jumped to these conclusions from those PMs? This is saying a lot, but you may be dumber than Coach Pants.

Now that CP has capitulated and RHT is giving out throwouts in the Sunday play around thread, maybe we can get back to the Beyers.

What should Blind Luck get, and why? Phil says 115, but I'm sure even he knows deep down that is absurd. I think it might be a few points low at 94, but no more than that.

Dont blame this one on me, this thread took a horrible turn before I said anything.

I said give the number whatever the right number by the difference in time is. I just did the Beyers for the card by the book and here's what I got. Left out the off the turf allowance at 9F and the 5F last race.

R1 STR 12.5K 1 Mi 70y 77
R2 MCL 10K 6F 50
R3 STR 5K 1 Mi 16th 72
R4 CLM 5K N3L 6F 69
R5 MCL 10K 6F 57
R6 CLM 5K N3L 6F 63
R7 Barbaro Stakes 1 Mi 16th 90
R9 Delaware Oaks 1 Mi 16th 110
R10 Sussex Stakes (off turf) 1 Mi 16th 87

Cool. I'll post mine tomorrow and see what the differences are, and we can go from there if there are any.

Yeah, I'm not trying to be dramatic, I just haven't done them yet. I always do weekend numbers on Monday and Tuesday when it is slow.

I never do Delaware so that is not accounting for any quirks they may have in their specific distances. Also, I think you'll agree the 5F race and the 3 horse 9F off the turfer are pretty useless in determining the rest of the card.

We were both unfairly used in that comparison. You more so than me.

I don't personally use Beyers, but I do make my own numbers and understand the complexities involved. I do agree about leaving obvious extreme pace scenario (fast or slow) figures alone, but Beyer doesn't so that is that. They are his figures to do what he pleases.

In this case, however, I don't think pace was even remotely an issue. It was either track maintenance or a bad clocking. It really doesn't matter which, or even if it was something else.

Ok, this is possibly a very dumb question, but I was at Delaware so know what the weather was like. It was raining pretty hard in the morning, stopped a race or two before Blind Luck's race, came pouring back down when they came to the paddock for the Oaks and the sun came out just after the Oaks and it got "steamy" for a lack of a better word...can that change a surface much?

Definitely.....and it most likely did. Thanks. Good info.

This thread was painful to read.

Phil - tell me you're kidding about being okay with Havre De Grace getting a 115 and Derwin's Star getting a 112 in the same race?

MISTERGEE 07-12-2010 05:59 PM

anybody happen to have the beyer for crc friday race nine, or like to tell me how you find that--------thanks in advance

I posted what I thought the number should be- a 105, with an 87 and 90 for the other two stakes.

The Indomitable DrugS 07-12-2010 07:12 PM

Phil ... why would the number matter at all unless someone is paying you to make them for every race?

Those weren't exactly ideal conditions for figure making.

In that vein- what I say doesn't mean anything in the end, since I don't get paid for it. But those that make figures for the DRF, the largest and most important racing rag in the country, have an obligation to their readers to publish what they believe to be the most accurate figure possible since people DO pay for the information- just like the chart caller has the obligation to truthfully report the lengths beaten, etc.
If they feel that 94 is the right number, so be it. No argument that it was a challenging day. However, in my humble opinion, they have missed the boat here.

The charts at DEL are just about the worst in terms of accuracy that I've seen. I mean seriously bad. Worse than AP, even.

Anybody know what Nicanor pulled? Shame that race came off the turf. He tried to gut it out. Not raced on dirt in awhile has he? I heard he's got a stubborn streak. Maybe slowing him down on the lead isn't a good thing. Just let him go.

90 for Nicanor in the Sussex.

Sightseek 07-14-2010 12:05 PM

Nicanor did something to a front leg or hoof during the running. Lots of looking down at it when he returned to be unsaddled.
