she was very fractious as the gate, and the crew then used tongs on her-which seemed to put her in quite a mental state. she used up a lot of energy before running that day, i can see why she tired.

Wow, I did not know that - well, that explains a lot. I was shocked when I saw her run so poorly given how talented she had shown she was.

If she goes to the Derby, let's hope she doesn't act up again like that.

That is a shame. Rule is being overlooked by many, and I like his chances, especially with Dominguez aboard.

It's looking more likely that Jackson Bend will get in -anyone know who may ride him?

That a rather ignorant comment considering that the Derby has has two $100+ winners in the past five years. At least he's been more consistant than many entered this year.

Devil May Care to be entered in Oaks & Derby

The filly Devil May Care will be entered in both races, owner John Greathouse said Sunday afternoon.

Supposedly whatever race she gets the better post in is the one she will run in

Kinda messed up if she scratches out of the KD and a horse cant get in that wants to

Mike Smith is already scheduled to ride Jackson Bend.

ninetoone 04-25-2010 06:29 PM

If Rule doesn't go, will Dominguez get a mount?

I don't believe a rider has been confirmed on Noble's Promise if he goes. Also, I have not heard who rides Backtalk if he gets in.

Willie Martinez rides Noble's Promise. Miguel Mena on Backtalk. Ramon Dominguez has a backup plan.

ninetoone 04-25-2010 06:57 PM

Steve, are you at liberty to discuss said backup plan?

I was watching Rule and loved his last race, but it appears to have knocked him out for awhile.

Rule looks like a headcase to me ... just has that crazy eye. *shrugs*

AeWingnut 04-25-2010 07:29 PM

Rule couldn't keep up with Mission Implazible
and I don't like Mission Implazible because I don't think he has run in a 1 1/8th prep.

FYI - I'm considering putting Paddy O'Prado in all of my bets

You would have to assume that if Rule doesn't go and Interactif does then Ramon will ride him since he has no rider.

Dean's Kitten or Interactif or Aikenite are the only options I can think of.

John,

#1. RULE started a length behind MISSION IMPAZIBLE and hit the wire less than a neck behind him. Mission outworked Rule however because Rule was working at getting to Mission while Mission was simply within himself and moving without any urging from his rider.

#2. MISSION IMPAZIBLE won the Louisiana Derby which was lengthened to 9f as part of its' new spot on the Derby Trail.

Mission Imazible looks to be coming into the week the best of the Pletcher group outside of the filly.

analyizethis 04-25-2010 09:52 PM

TAP Group

I understood that Super Saver was also coming in pretty strong. How does Mission Impazible compare to him?

Scav 04-25-2010 10:05 PM

I just watched the Mission Impazable and Rule work from Saturday. I thought Mission's work was lights out and Rule absolutely sucked. Rule was being asked the whole time to keep up with Mission and simply couldn't, while Mission was not being asked at all. When both riders let up, Rule shut it down completely and Mission galloped out strong.

I wasn't anywhere near Mission before watching that, but he might be an include for me now

Take another look at his Louisiana Derby. I promise you will no longer be losing money on him.

That might have been the worst Derby prep ever.

the_fat_man 04-25-2010 10:47 PM

Mission Impazible got a perfect trip last out and, apparently, this is the only way he can win, since he really hasn't shown he can run any other way (at least in his past 3 races).

Rule, on the other hand, is a 'fighter'.

I haven't seen the workout; I don't know how fit Rule is; and, Rule will get the worse of it, of the two, in terms of setup in the Derby. I wouldn't bet Rule but I would certainly bet him before a horse that, basically, needs to get significantly lucky to hit the board.

The amazing thing about Mission Impazible is that he never accelerated. He merely won by going less slowly than the others in the stretch. It was really a decidedly mediocre race to be kind.

I like Rule. I agree with you, it's hard to believe he could win this race, but he's tough.

Thought I read in an earlier post that Rule was on the fence. Did I read it right?

the filly (if she gets the right post) will be the pletcher horse to bet, rule will not hit the board

kgar311 04-26-2010 09:06 AM

I had word that Pletcher was really high on Mission Impazable even before the scratch of E. Could be the one to watch. And as soon as Eskenderya scratched, they took Rajiv off M I and put Johnny up.

Sorry you are right, he just told me if the filly goes Friday then Johnny takes MI in the Derby, but if she goes in Derby then JV is up.
