I was gonna come play before but got distracted by the This Is Me thread (nice picture, Coach!!! :D ). Since it's just the two of us you know what I've always wanted to ask you dear one? You know the part about Lo body and soul this land, the ships, the prairie blah blah blah (sorry Walt)? Well that next part about most excellent sun so calm and haughty? Does that make you think of Bill and Ted too? :p I mean I'm sorry and I know it's a work of art and who it's about and all, but... Maybe I'm a horrible person. |
Two poems I've always liked:
1. Beau by Jimmy Stewart Rather than print it here, go to youtube and type in:Johnny Carson-Jimmy Stewart-Beau Poem Jimmy says it better than reading it. 2. Abandoned Dog by Robert William Service "They dumped it on the lonely road, Then like a streak they sped; And as along the way I strode I thought that it was dead: And then I saw that yelping pup Rise, race to catch them up. You know how silly wee dogs are. It thought they were in fun. Trying to overtake their car I saw it run and run: But as they faster, faster went, It stumbled, sore and spent. I found it prone upon the way; Of life was little token. As limply in the dust it lay I thought its heart was broken: Then one dim eye it opened and it sought to lick my hand. Of course I took it gently up And brought it to my wife Who loves all dogs, and now that pup Shares in our happy life: Yet how I curse the bastards who Its good luck never knew!" |

Ms. Deb O'Deb posted poems... where are yours sistah? I was gonna post the really cool one by Sergei Esenin... you know the one he wrote in his own blood before hanging himself but then 1. it's about death and I don't get those pm's anymore and 2. I didn't want to be accused of being sanctimonious or anything like that so figured I'd post this instead. :D (It's not rap). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvt4b_qwC_Q |

OK here's my try at poetry... How doth the little crocodile Improve his shining tail, And pour the waters of the Nile On every golden scale! How cheerfully he seems to grin, How neatly spread his claws, And welcome little fishes in With gently smiling jaws! :p ;) !!! |

It has been very revitalizing for the city, a chance to catch our breath and have FUN!!!!!!!!! Funny thing is my friend lives in Miami and of course our local stations were there, so we were talking back and forth. Miami Dade PD kept coming on the news and saying how street parading was illegal, they were so afraid a parade might break out, we just love to parade....:p So lots of people came to New Orleans where street drinking and parading are legal. Trust me many parades just broke out !!! Party down in NOLA. |
