Mangini's improvement in '06 was largely because they actually brought in halfway competent O-Linemen and the entire team wasn't on IR like it was in '05. Besides, if a 6-game improvement is the gauge for first-year success, Rex would've had to go 15-1 to satisfy your criteria. And no, you're wrong. We were happy with Mangini's early success, but he didn't involve the fans like Rex has, and didn't build the badass defense Rex has. I was there. The fans like Rex more, and rightfully so.

Pointing out every bad decision is pointless at this point as it is just redboarding since I know how every play call is going to turn out. Regardless, I never said Ryan alone cost them four games, I said Ryan and Sanchez combined did. Most of it was Sanchez but some of it was Ryan putting the ball in his hands in too many situations with the game on the line.
And apparently we remember Mangini's first year quite differently, Jets fans were convinced he was the coach that was going to turn things around, just like they are with Ryan right now. Perhaps the pulse in the city was different then but I can assure you the Jets fans in Albany were just as enamored with Mangini his first season.
Also, why does all the credit for the defense go to Rex Ryan instead of to the Defensive Coordinator?
