Amazing day at P. Park today.

G2 Counties Cup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGRyFPlWjlE
Boundless. :)

G2 Breeders Stakes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0kWnAWisl4
Best race I've seen in ages. What an awesome duel, and both of those horses are so so good. I'll watch this one over and over.

2yo stakes race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDY4LYTRMkk
A colt by Storming Home wins a stakes race at his first start!

Counties Bowl: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMH7FQpVT84
One of my favourite geldings, Richard Beymer, carries a huge weight and sets the pace and they still can't catch him. His 11th win, 5th stakes. Love the guy.

my miss storm cat 11-21-2009 11:13 AM

Boundless!!! :tro:

my miss storm cat 11-21-2009 11:15 AM

Oh my God ed, I just saw the angels thread.

What happened to Jungle Boots? :(

Sad sad news.

_ed_ 11-21-2009 06:24 PM

It was really sad. It was just one of those ones where he must have taken a bad step, and he went down. The official report says he fractured his off fore leg.

There was a huge crowd there, and they all went completely quiet. :( The rest of the day was not far away from being the best I've ever seen, but that was one of the worst moments in all the time I've liked racing.

my miss storm cat 11-22-2009 10:14 AM

I'm sorry you were there for it... I know you liked him. :(

Prince Of Wales is 2-1, The Hombre 6-1. Other strong chances are St Germaine, Zarzuela, Sum Up (full brother to Thumbs Up!) and King Raedwald.

_ed_ 11-26-2009 10:42 PM

Eileen Dubh wins it in a photo finish with St Germaine.

It was a really exciting race, but both of those horses were easily beaten by Katie Lee in the 1000 Guineas. Either this was a weak G1 race or Katie Lee's very good. Or maybe both.

I'll post the replay soon.

_ed_ 11-28-2009 07:23 AM

Here's that replay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xr3LTtZVMQQ

And here's a replay of a good G3 race here today. Sir Slick ran well. :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIGAR48tCPg
And so good to see Run Like Al back at his best.

15 3X317 Prince Of Wales 2 78 53.0 Craig Grylls Mike & Paul Moroney, Matamata

This is really tough for Prince Of Wales - half way through his 3yo year, and taking on some really top horses. Tell A Tale, Culminate and Vosne Romanee are going to be very hard to beat.

_ed_ 12-07-2009 05:41 PM

It was an off track, so a bit of a surprise result.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQXIfzvra-A

my miss storm cat 12-07-2009 08:15 PM

Well after giving up on Tell a Tale and Culminate I was rooting for Fritzy Boy at the end of it.

That WAS a surprise!

A lot of fun not knowing who was gonna win. :tro:

:(

Brave girl.

But this was REALLY good - Wealth Princess. Undefeated in four starts now, and this was a track record. :) And SUCH a good performance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdSm3LCmu5U

Wow very exciting stuff!!! Lucky you... must have been great!

Two questions... why was Sir scratched and is Monaco Consul okay? That was pretty surprising to see him last.

_ed_ 12-28-2009 06:45 PM

Sir Slick I think had an elevated temperature on the morning of the race. I think he's back to full health again now.

No one really knows what happened to Monaco Consul. He didn't look good in a gallop with Prince Of Wales a couple of days before the race either. Hopefully the trainers can figure out what the problem is and fix it!

Sad to see the field for the Railway without Wasted Emotions. Poor guy.

Good luck to Katie (who needs no luck !!!), to her sister of course, to our good Sir Slick :{>: (wonder how The Pooka will do in that one), Mufhasa just because and Red Ruler (who I think wins) and Spin Around (who I like) in the City of Auckland which is a really nice field!

Good for her!

Do you happen to remember a horse named Van Persie? Just curious ed... he's Soviet Pearl now and runs in HK tonight.

He looked pretty nice in September and October (2 good Class 3 wins back to back) but then lost 3 in a row (was 5th twice, 6th once).

Anyway just wondering. Nice horse... I think he'll get better and better.

_ed_ 01-16-2010 02:12 AM

Yeah, good to see Bound To Impress win one! Her mother would be proud.

I don't remember Van Persie. I looked him up, and he raced down south, so I never saw him run. He had 3 starts in NZ for a win, a 2nd and a 3rd. He ran against some good horses in that time, like G2-placed Late Addition.

Good luck to Red Ruler  , She Rules, Sacramento and Atapi (oh and Mufhasa just because). :)

Is Nacho Man scratched?

_ed_ 01-22-2010 10:36 PM

He is. I think he's made it into the field for next week's Karaka Million, so they're going there instead.
