Seriously though. You'll all never know how much your kind words and well wishes have meant to myself and my family.

Tina has been copying and giving me all the messages from all the sites and believe me I could actually feel a positive physical reaction.

I'm feeling MUCH better. Freaky thing boy. The doctors say it's isolated and passed so I'm ready to roll on Thursday.

I'll tell you one thing for sure. It'll be nice to have just one job till the fall. I know I've obsessed way too much about trying to be leading rider with Joel.

We'll still work hard but by then I know I'll have learned to reconcile it better and take more time to just rest and relax with my family.

Again. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU so much for everything. Your kindness has been humbling.

Let's go get em Thursday!

Vic

Wonderful news Vic, so happy it was minor.

That was a really nice piece on Vic. I like all the youtube videos. He sure has called alot of great ones over the years. He should be proud of those.

No Internet Access? Where in Texas were you? If it is somewhere other than the big 4 cities, there is no use in visiting Texas (unless you are an oil/gas man or have to visit in-laws)

It was very hot, 100-105 everyday, visiting the future in-laws in Wimberly, stayed at a house on the Blanco River, as a River house there was no internet and my cellphone signal was extremely weak. Had fun tubing on the river though.

Enjoyed that southern summer huh? hehe I am in south louisiana and 100-105 is what it has been since early in the spring, and Aug. is usually the hottest month. I put one of the sprinklers out in the pastures and the horses were fighting over who got to stand in the middle of it! :D How did ya like the humidity? Totally different right?

Yes I did react too soon. It just seemed odd to have a stand in without saying anything before.

I did say something. I introduced him at about 18 mins to post. Then went to the paddock to watch Neil Drysdale saddle Cold East Wind and talk to Joel.

I thought Old School did a great job!

When Hollywood closes I'm out of the announcing business. That's why for the time being I'm wearing two hats. When I got engaged I made a promise to Tina and her daughter Lilly that when HP shuts down I wouldn't go back out on the road to another out of town track.

When and if that happens I'll be a full time agent and probably do some freelancing for TVG.

But you will continue your position as announcing mentor?

I for one will miss you buddy....as I think your a rare talent who has made following the Hollywood meets enjoyable and interesting. I applaud your priorities to your "wife and daughter to be" and truly wish the list stops at 1) broken hip 2) TIA or RIND 3) multiple episodes of agitated hypertensive crisis secondary to univited opinions pertaining to how you make your living...

Hopefully your health will solidify with a reduction of daily stress and the love of a good woman in a happy house......good luck.

SlewsMyHero 07-20-2009 01:36 PM

Vic Stauffer. Are you calling Santa Rosa this year?

With Rosario on such a roll, I'm just curious how you're going to handle the situation. Can you handle his book while you're calling races in Santa Rosa for 2 weeks? Did you give up your stint at SR to be on track at Del Mar? I think I know what I'd do, but it's an interesting situation. Glad to hear you back at the mike for the last week of Hollypark. Great job as usual.

Slew - look about 2/3 of the way down this article, it says he won't do the fair. It's a bummer, I was looking forward to hearing his calls next week. I guess we'll be hearing more of Frank this summer...

SlewsMyHero 07-20-2009 03:36 PM

Thanks. I don't see how he could leave the Del Mar backstretch scene for 2 weeks anyway while he's handling Rosario's book. He's making a heckuva lot more money booking mounts than calling races.

Diver67 07-20-2009 03:53 PM

Vic, its always a pleasure to see you on TVG, so I'll look forward to that.

Ditto. Hope you are feeling well.

Thanks guys. I am feeling much better. Looking forward to trying to help Joel keep the momentum going at DM. Won't be easy. Bejarano and Gomez will be there from the beginning and are both loaded.

I've let TVG know that I'm available to fill in in a pinch during Del Mar so you might see me a few times. Hope so. I always enjoy being on the network when my schedule allows.

See ya at the seashore!!

It's been a pleasure listening to your calls.. Always will remember the earthquake call as my sister lives in LA. and I phoned her up immediately.. She was surprised I new that they were in the middle of a quake.. The Cesario race is also a fond memory..

If you are smart you will pack your bags immediately after Delmar and head to NY. Unfortunately California racing is in turmoil and the folks who head east and plant roots first will be there before the sun sets on Ca.

Freddy. For a smart guy that could be the worst idea I've ever heard. I'd rather flip burgers and live in So. Cal than be a millionaire anywhere else. No way no chance. If the sun sets it's setting right on top of me, my family and my jock.

Please take care of yourself big guy that little event was a sentinel event as we say in the business to slow down and let the young ones leap tall buildings with a single bound....see how many days in a row you can go without being exhausted. When you pass 1000 give me a call....Let's see what your BP does the first day of Delmar.....ladies day ahhhhh nothing like it anywhere.
