Like Michelle O'B getting that job at Univ of Chicago Hosp that was so necessary but hasn't been filled since she left? I agree then.

You're guilty of everything I get accused of..blaming a Republican when it's a Dem issue.

I have argued far worse and weak cases than this on DT..Cheney being a lying, sick, war monger is one of the easier ones

Chances Cheney supports same sex marriage
if his daughter was straight... ZERO.

Cant put himself in other's shoes, he has got
to be wearing them to empathize.

many parents w/gay children don't accept it and many more have children in the closet because of either fear or anticipatin of the parents not accepting. Chaney is not one of them. Can he get at least some credit for being such?

How many or % is many?

Just from my personal acquaintances and friends it would be few, very few...

I'd say that's an impossible question to answer but IMO many of those who are still 'in the closet' are there because of family concerns rather than for professional reasons. It also seems to be a cultural thing with Blacks and Mexican/Puerto Rican's being the least accepting of such. Something to do with Machismoism?

From my experience, it'd be much higher than "very few."

I am positive the percentage of closeted folks goes down in direct correlation to the point where financial independance goes up, but assuming that "very few" people stay in the closet or are met with disapproval due to family concerns is an incredibly naive view of how the coming out process generally works and the well-founded concerns lots of people have about it.

From my experience, which I'd be fair to consider rather extensive, the percentage of people who come out to parental disapproval is much higher than you're making it sound like it is.

It's obviously getting better as time goes by, and that's nothing but a good thing, but we're nowhere near the point where that % is anything close to what it should be.

we actually had a guy at work (Puerto Rican) who believed he could beat his brother straight. It didn't work.

But to be fair I think it was her church that stated that.

If that is the case why woudn't Obama be at fault for the racist views of his pastor and church?

Hopefully (there's that word again) she has been proud of her country more than once as an adult which. sadly can't be said about Michelle O'B as stated by her in her own words not her church and or pastor......

Sarah Palin has said she's proud of what Alaskan Successionists are trying to achieve. She doesn't vote "with the good ol' USA" on that one.

I know when to surrender and defending Sarah for being anything other than a MILF is a argument I have no chance of winning.

my parents think that by ignoring it, refusing to talk about it, refusing to meet any of my past gf's, and telling me that one day maybe I'll go with a guy again (everytime I tell them about a guy friend that I like (as a friend) they get excited that maybe I'll get with him. My uncle always tells me to try sleeping with a guy again, but he's generally okay cause we check out girls together... he just wants me to be with a man.

My parents feel by having the attitude that I described above, that means they are being very supportive of my lifestyle "choice". My Dad also told me to never have a partner, and never tell ANYONE I'm gay. My mom told me she's real against gay couples ever having kids. Well maybe one day she doesnt have to meet her grandchild then (I really want kids).

Pgardn, that is supposed to be a supportive and accepting relationship in their eyes! Maybe if they dont talk about it or think about it it will go away!

Here ya' go ;)

"Michael Reagan's going to talk about getting on the right track. He knows, we know here in Alaska that America is the greatest nation on earth because our foundation is freedom and it's in God we trust, it's not in big government that we trust. So I encourage Michael just to keep on speaking up, and for me....you know me.... Before my Franco Sarto red high heels even get off the stage and touch the floor my critics, they're going to be loaded for bear and they're going to start unloading because, because I dared speak up." - Sarah Palin 2009
