Goose bumps. That was AWESOME.

robfla 05-01-2009 04:50 PM

holy ****

eajinabi 05-01-2009 04:50 PM

I think Zenyatta just dropped to number two

ateamstupid 05-01-2009 04:51 PM

That was pretty awesome. You know what would've been awesomer? If Durkin knew her phucking name. "A TOUR DE FORCE FROM RACHEL ALEXANDER!!!"

Merlinsky 05-01-2009 04:52 PM

I have to tell you, that was a real honor to behold. Congratulations Hal and Calvin, you old salts.

I think Durkin was so excited he got tongue-tied. He was going nuts.

Nah, he was calling her that all down the backstretch. It's not that difficult.

They should have you call the race next time.

hockey2315 05-01-2009 04:56 PM

She obviously ran an incredible race, but let's not go too crazy about the length she won by vs. that field. . .

Blah Blah. Wasnt her fault that she ran with these group. Even so it was a weak filed, winning by 20 lengths in any race, in hand is not easy to do.

GFY. Apparently you think it's too much to ask that an announcer know the name of a 20+ length winner of the Kentucky Oaks.

Sightseek 05-01-2009 05:01 PM

Appropriately Bravo! is airing Top Gun afterwards. :D

A couple time he called her "Alexander" a couple times "Alexandra"...that's worse than getting it wrong everytime. How hard is her name to pronounce?????? I have heard "Alexander" for her from many announcers, fans, and commentators. Geeeze

I'm pretty excited about that.

King Glorious 05-01-2009 05:03 PM

Wiggins has got to be kicking himself. The Oaks is a nice race to win but he'll never have a better shot to win the Derby than he would have had with her. She never ran a damn step today. Never ran a step. I have no doubt that she is the best 3yo in the country and would have won the Derby. I was so so so so so wrong. Stardom Bound can't touch this horse. Last year, I wanted to see Zenyatta in the Classic. If Shirreffs wants to win another BC race with her this year, he better run in the Classic.

philcski 05-01-2009 05:05 PM

That was unbelievable. I think we all knew she would win but by 25 lengths?

Merlinsky 05-01-2009 05:07 PM

I'm glad nobody told Winning Colors or Funny Cide the Triple Crown series is supposed to be a showcase for stallions.

Like I said you should call the race next time. The owners of Rachel Alexandra will support your bid for it.

I could care less if he called her Rachel Alexander or Alexandera and 99.9% would agree with me. A-holes like yourself want to criticize and knock people for a stupid reason

It was a passing comment. You're the one who's drawing this out. Quick, mention something about some random horse so you can pull up this thread in six months.

Wrong, this is not a stupid reason to criticize someone whose job it is to correctly pronounce names of racehorses and call them accordingly.

Sometimes people don't notice when it is a crappy claiming race at Turfway, but when you are calling one of the biggest races in America on national television it would be advisable to know the correct pronunciation of the likely favorite in an eight horse field.

Would you say the same if the guy working in the bay at the oil lube shop put in a drain plug that was too small and it fell out right when he put it in?

99.9% of people probably wouldn't care I guess... close enough.

That analogy was not thought out very well. ROFL

He had a triple digit Beyer last out

And the last time he ran over the track he ran 8.5 furlongs in 1:43.67 under 124lbs .. Einstein beat Commentator and Delightful Kiss the next race in 1:49.79 under 119 .. So I'm sure he had a strong sheet number there.

Not that I thought he'd be quite that short - and not that I liked him - but I didn't think his closing price was shocking.

I thought Cool Coal Man was utterly hopeless off of his last two races and he almost won at 5/1.

That race just plain sucked. The Miss Isella/One Caroline race went over a second and a half faster today.

The older males are a complete joke - and I know I'm only belaboring the obvious and telling you something you already know.

So true.. Seldom can I just toss a Lucas horse and feel comfortable doing it.

Had run a 1,1,2,0,0 in 5 efforts since getting off the poly, throwing out the Donn of course. Still, I was expecting 5 or 6-1 because the name horses figured to be bet harder. I didn't profit on the opinion as well as I should have, however. Orthodox was a real head scratcher. I used 8 of 9 in the pick 4 in some manner and he was the only one i didn't.

FYI- they sealed the track before the One Caroline race and opened it back up for the Alysheba. Will be a very tough day to make figures as they were continually working on the track.

I think she is vulnerable and am putting Bafferts horse with Flying spur and justwhistledixie for the double. I think the last one is coming into this with just the right rest and should run her best which should do it if RA falters. And I think she will.
As for the derby half of the double, I am still working on it. I do like Pioneer alot with Friesan Fire, Hold Me Back, Mr. Hot Stuff and Desert Party. IWR from everything I have heard is gonna be a handful and I don't like Talamo's inexperience which he put on display in the Gotham. I don't get the hype on Dunkirk. three races, hasn't won a stake, never raced at 2. Too lean for me to put any money on. Chocolate Candy could be at huge odds and his stretch run against a slow pace in the Santa Anita Derby was very impressive. Should be a great show for fans. I'll be at a Derby Party at Belmont.

How stupid coule I have been with respect to RA. Amazing
