Thats easy.

Have you said anything in this entire thread that is worth anything besides used up cliches?

You have no idea what you are talking about and its obvious. The fact that you had to stoop to that garbage twice exposes you as not only clueless but a total degenerate lacking any class or grace.

please take a walk because no one likes you.

Again, i wish to discuss sports with people that know a little something. I dont think Pgardn fits the bill.

Great "hands" defenders. LOL.

Intangibles...
Good hands are intangible.
They dont exist.

civil with a person of your most personable disposition.
Too funny..... civil.

yeah, it was civil until you showed up. It quickly became apparent that you dont know what you are talking about so you start throwing out misogynist garbage.

You are a loser Pgardn. A poor loser.

And you teach children? You can't even deal with adults.

Then leave...scoot. You are a sad loser. A pathetic excuse for a little man and an indictment on our education system if you are indeed a real teacher.

I would bet money you arent even a real teacher. I bet you are one of those hallway narcs that makes like 12 dollars an hour.

Mortimer 10-29-2008 10:28 PM

Read your stuff,KG. Maybe we're not so far apart.

I just hate him.

Phil no one likes discussing anything with you. Nothing worse than someone that doesnt know what they are talking about and acts as if they do. Thats you phil...on every subject.

You are a high school hall monitor that claims to be a teacher. Why do you try to aggrandize that?

I wanted you to leave before but now I am just enjoying this. So please keep on. :)

The strongest part of Bird's defense was the fact that he was always thinking and seeing 2-3 passes ahead of everyone else on the floor. No one ever saw the game unfold better on both ends of the floor than Bird.

Oh God. another myth. The celtics (and the NBA for that matter) let him play a one man zone. He was too slow to cover his man one on one. They put him on the player that could hurt them the least and let him rover.

I can attach footage if you like.

Myth?? Larry Birds ability to see the floor is a myth?

No, just that it made him a good defender. He was amazing at seeing the floor.

He is the equivalent of a defensive back like Terrell buckley. Would get a few picks so people thought he was okay but he really would get beat most of the game. Thats Bird on D.

Bird couldnt guard anyone one on one. He was a liability.

Wrong.
This is just wrong.
He was put on the opposing teams more immobile power forward.
If he got put on a guy like Xavier McDaniel or such, he was toast.
If they were put on him. They were toast.

You had to play a man when Bird played. The rules were different.

If Bird DIDN'T see the floor as well as he did, then his defense REALLY would have sucked. But, his ability to see the floor made up for alot of his physical shortcomings on defense.

No mistaking his defense did REALLY suck.

No disrespect kev, but i find it hilarious when people are talking about "seeing the floor" and using "hands" when discussing man to man defense.

See man see ball is basic man to man principles. Nothing special. "seeing the floor" defending against a pro player will get you left about five steps late when he cuts back door.

One out of a bundle from scouts as reported by ESPN:

Western Conference scouting director: "He would have been the No. 1 pick in last year's draft. That should give you an indication of what kind of talent he is. Of all the other high school kids who've come into the league in recent years, the thing that separates LeBron is that he's physically ready to play. He's strong. He's a manly 6-8, 225 (pounds).

"Having said that, he's able to get by on his physical ability right now. The question is, what happens when he can't just get by on physical ability alone? The mental side, the emotional side, those are unknowns. In high school, the only thing we're seeing is the physical ability. There were a lot of times in high school where Kobe didn't have to play his hardest and we see the same thing with LeBron. What happens when he has to turn it on? Will he be able to play 82 games in a consistent manner?

"When Kobe had to turn it on, he did. You saw his desire to work hard and get better. He was willing to sacrifice. Those are unknowns with LeBron at his age. But skill-wise? He has the ability to be anything he wants. He has the passing skills to be a great point guard. He can be a two guard who gets his shot off the dribble. He has legit (small forward) size. His shot is the one element of his game that has been red-flagged, but he has been working on that. There's really nothing you can nit-pick."

There are many others questioning his physical capacity in an 82 game season, not just his mental stamina over this stretch.

He has, of course, silenced these critics.
For the most part anyway.
