If you question a random sample of people... say 1,000 men and women (all age groups say over 18) from North Carolina.. and ask them to name one Trainer in horse racing.. how many people do you think could name one??? 15 people?? 100?? 3??

Well I just picked a random state... Just didnt want to pick Kentucky, or Central Florida because people are much more exposed to horse racing their. Trying to pick a random state... How about Nevada? Or Ohio? or Oklahoma?

sure.. I think a lot of people could name Secretariat or Smarty Jones... I'm just wondering the % of the population that would follow horse racing enough to know the name of a trainer. Eventhough with Ricky D on ESPN almost daily lot of people could maybe name him!

Joey and I were having this convo last week.. we think maybe .5% or less of the population could name someone.

I agree it would be very low, although I think more people would recall Matz over anyone.

I live right next to Charlotte and I say 1 in 1000 would be a stretch. But, 999 in 1000 could name every damn Nacar driver, crew owner, tires used, and model car they drive.

I'm the 1 in 1000 that would not be able to name any of above....thank God!
