Of course, this is endless..

look..I deserve the challenges because I make the comments I do. That's cool..But "right" and "wrong" here is personal opinion for the most part and that's never going to be agreed upon. There are black and white issues that McCain will line up on one side of and Obama on the other. If I didn't think Obama was a very capable presidential candidate, I wouldn't vote for him ( see Dukakis), but I do. Fortunately I think the lemming factor in both parties has minimized over the years and that's the way it should be.

Obama is getting an almost Christlike rise out of a lot
of younger folks. But this is not his fault. I like the fact,
just as with McCain, that they are both willing to pick advisors
with opinions that vary in order to make informed decisions.

McCain and Obama are not experts. They are supposed to be
leaders that can make appropriate decisions when informed
properly. And I think they both will both get competent advise,
unlike the current administration in which the President hired all his friends
and had such loyality that he stuck by despite obvious incompetence.

That is certainly true.
I am a Democrat and an Obama supporter, but there are some people out there who really seem to think that Obama's election will automatically mean the end of global warming, a positive revolution in American politics, a reversal of the slipping economy, the end of the heath care crisis, and solutions to countless other problems around the world.
I am glad to see that these younger voters are getting involved (many for the first time), and I am glad they helped Obama defeat Clinton, but I think many of them will be sorely disappointed four years from now if Obama wins, because they are fooling themselves right now. There is just no way that EVERYTHING they are hoping for will happen.

I agree with many of Obama's political positions, and therefore I think he will be a good president, but no one person could possibly live up to the expectations of some.
In the end Obama IS a politician. He happens to be one I often agree with, but that doesn't mean he is going to be able to somehow rise above the political fray and miraculously change the world the way some of his most ardent supporters seem to believe.

i have yet to find any attribute of Obamas that would indicate to me that he should be president.

it was open season on Kerry and his military service and for good reason. he was over there like one year, embellished his record, and then once he came home he ripped to shreds the military and those he served with.

john kerry volunteered for the navy and then subsequently volunteered for service on a swift boat. t. boone pickens, who financed swift boat veterans for truth, never served. he joins dick cheney, don rumsfeld, and any number of bush administration officials with that distinction. bush himself, of course, served stateside.

i find the twists and turns of logic in support of partisan politics sickening. what kerry did after his service isn't relevant to what he did in vietnam. the partisan attack on a decorated veteran questioning his service should have made any decent person vomit.

and where were all the republican mccain defenders in 2000 when he was smeared by the bush campaign in s carolina? he was unquestionably the better qualified candidate then.

how about we start honoring service in fact and not just when it serves our partisan purpose?

Makes perfect sense to me.
I dont believe he is some sort of megalomaniac that some are
making him out to be either. He seems very thoughtful, but
trying to get elected at the same time. So he, like most politicians,
paint a very hopeful picture of their plans that will be very difficult
to implement with total success.

And yes hopefully it does not sour the younger folks that
have to deal with the reality that some of these problems
are terribly difficult. Hopefully it does not turn them into
very cynical bitter older folks. We have enough of them.

Oh gosh yes.

Can you imagine why anyone over the age of 25 would be cynical in this country?

Ship them all to their great grand parents point of origin is what I say.

They'd have to slice most of us in pieces to do that.

your way off if you are implying that all those guys were only speaking up because they were paid off by some right wing cronies. the points were valid.

i honor Kerrys service to the country, but will not turn a blind eye to the other aspects surrounding his service, during or after it.

i don't know where you were, but I sure heard plenty of objections to the Bush campaigns smear of McCain in 2000.

well someone needs to explain it to me. i hate feeling i'm being mocked in a way more sophisticated than i can understand.

i've given up on the gelf discussion. they just ignored me there.

Mortimer 07-24-2008 06:33 PM

Oh no big deal.

It's just that normal people look at what they call the abnormal slice and they laugh at and castigate them. I guess it's a feeling of improved self worth at the expense of those they feel aren't worth much. Kind of a lazy and unethical way to make ones self feel better, but who's taking off for style points?

The moral of the story is it's often the abnormal secretly laughing heartily at the normal for reasons they never will understand.

Don't mind me...I'm just off in my own little world wondering why I don't see Mommy Dearest here.

Jeez.
Im cooked.
I dont know the difference.

But I do know this.
I laugh constantly reading this site but never put LOL. Oops.
It just does not do a good laugh justice. And this :D , the
dreaded big smile is so lacking.

And my laugh is not a mocking laugh or a laugh of disdain.
It is a laugh of pure nonsense. Silliness. No little round faces
for that. And I see people put, "I laughed". Does that work?

Damn the typed word on the internet.
No intonations, severly devoid of information
therefore highly misunderstood... by me anyway.

Nothing like face to face human
contact.
Do not read in French kissing morton.

Hey...been there--done that. Know what I'm sayin'?

Both sides...know them all well.

Personally I like the middle ground with no dues owed. You either like someone or you don't...and that can change either way.
