Rasberries to you as well,sir.

Im a patriot fan, so in my unbiased opinion the real idiot is Ted Thompson. He made it so much worse by saying rogers is our starter and if favre wants to come back he can be a backup! What a moron. All he had to say is he can come and compete for the job and if hes better he can start. Don't make a hall of fame quarterback feel like a waterboy on the bench. I don't get it whats so great about rogers? Can anyone tell me. Whos to say that brohm might be better than him. I hope for packer fans sake that rogers doesn't get injured early in the season and is out for the season. Then what thompson gonna be begging for favre to come back. Sorry to late he will be with someone else. Yes thompson as carlos mencia likes to say your the "duh duh"!

There are a couple of things that I don't get. Who coorinated Rodgers as the next coming? I understand about worrying about the future, but you are coming off a season where you were a fumble recovery away from going to the Super Bowl. It's not like they were 3-13 last year, looking like it was going to be another lousy season and it was time for a change. Plus, they drafted Brian Bhrom, so there is a plan C if they ended up losing Rodgers after this season. But if the Packers genuinelly don't want him, then trade him and do something helpful for the team. Why pay a first ballot Hall of Famer and the face of the franchise 13 million to hold a clipboard when you can get maybe a first round pick? How fair is it to Rodgers to have Farve on the bench? You would think that there would be groans for Farve everytime Rodgers does anything wrong. It's not fair at all. If they don't think he is good enough to lead them to a title, then why should it matter where he plays? Let him play for the Vikings and then you should be able to eat him up twice a year. It's a no win for everyone, the organization, Farve and the fans who want him. Personally if it was my decision, #4 would be taking the snap from center on opening day.

It's all about accountability. I can't say what you wrote is wrong, but Favre, Thompson, the organization...someone has to stick to their word at some point or no one is believable. And obviously Favre ain't the guy doing that.

Rodgers may suck...no one knows, but for 3 years, he and the Packers have been put through the Favre return/retire drama and enough was enough. If they let Favre come back, they 1) Lose Rodgers mentally forever, 2) Allow Favre to be bigger than the team , 3) Change the direction of the offense and everything that was installed for Rodgers...he's a totally different QB than Favre..mobile, conservative, etc.

Favre isn't going to be on the bench..he will take his $25 Million and walk or accept a trade. But why isn't anyone slamming him for refusing to play for the two teams that want him...Jets and Bucs? I thought he "just wanted to play football"??? Guess not..

I am soooooo sick of his posturing and whining...The Packers as an organization are totally getting f*cked by him and at this point it's a business decision, nothing else

They are built to win now. Maybe they can do with Rodgers, but you saw how far they got with Brett last year ( I understand that they were a very good overall team and it was not just Brett). The Vikings still don't have a QB, the Bears offense is still in shambles and then you have the Lions. So they should still win the division (probably with Rodgers too). But in the NFL it is all about now. Would you sacrafice Rodgers for a trip to the Super Bowl this year? Farve is already bigger than the team, despite what everyone wants to believe. Am I saying that is right, no. But lets call a spade a spade here. And the team already knows the offense that took them to the NFC title game last year, so how hard can it be to reinstall it after what 1 week of camp? Farve has definatley tarnished his legacy a bit with this crap that he has pulled. But, if he had a news conference today saying he was sorry for what he did. Admiting that he never wanted to play in Minnesota (which would probably be a lie). And wanting to finish what they came so close to doing last year. You would have to be crazy not to take him back. As far as Rodgers goes, lets just say Brian Bhrom was very highly touted in college.

There.....was no bigger Brett Favre supporter than me. And that is true since I saw his first touchdown at Lambeau 16 years ago. My college roommate's brother was his WR for 3 years, I've played golf with him, had dinner with him...whatever..you know what I'm trying to say. But his hypocrisy, IMO, is unforgiveable here. I said it a long time ago in this thread...it's impossible to 1) Figure out what REALLY is going on and 2) Come to an agreement on previous...so..I state my case and understand other opinions

and I love The Odd Couple

good luck packers...... rodgers should demand a trade.

Mortimer 08-03-2008 06:04 PM

This commissioner is a bigger idiot than Stern.

hi_im_god 08-03-2008 06:30 PM

he's just forcing everyone's hand. probably makes the packers take a #2 pick to dump him instead of the #1 they want.

have to think the offer they had from the jets looks okay now.

I am not sure how much choice he had in the matter legally.
I would like to know if he really had to. The NFL states they
wanted to force the hand of one or both of the parties, but
Godell may have had to.

Anyone know if Brett could have forced reinstatement from a legal
point of view? Seems like he could.

i thought i read farve nixed the trade to NYJ and the Bucs too. you would think TB would be an option because it's close to home?

i could be wrong but i thought the packers were holding out for a #1.

Mortimer 08-03-2008 06:50 PM

I really don't understand.

Favre had a contract with Green Bay. He retired...again...while under contract to Green Bay.Only this time it was supposed to be real.GB decides to move on with their former number 1 choice as qb. Favre changes his mind and wants to unretire.GB says fine..but you're a back up. So dumb azz wants to be traded ;whether or not that was his plan doesn't matter.

GB held the upperhand and they ,as the employer, should have been allowed to carry through their own decisions.

This Favre is a cumquat matched only by this disaster of a commissioner.

hi_im_god 08-03-2008 06:59 PM

all that really matters is i can enter the sports forum now without being subjected to 24/7 baseball discussions.

i hope to god they all finish 81-81. f'in ****** sport.

Its bleeding down in to High School. When Tx has to
test HS athletes for testosterone derivatives... bunch o bs.
And every kid has a dream of being an athlete instead of
a Materials Scientist (ok... so maybe this is asking a bit much)

Texas ATM males will go back to farm animals before girls.

they wanted a #1 pick from the bears or vikes because they were in the division. they would have taken less from the jets and bucs.
the list of teams that farve gave to the commissioner was just the bears and vikes because he "wants to beat the packers twice if they don't want him"... reported by espn radio. now it sounds like the pack will take less from the bears or Vickers to unload favre. the vikings seem to be in the lead because of the OC, farve would have less to learn.

GBBob 08-06-2008 12:20 PM

Jets and Bucs in bidding war...Favre on plane on tarmac in GB waiting to see what city he is flying to. Jets currently have higher bid, but TB hasn't countered.

Unreal, can't wait to see whatever team he winds up with go 3-13 and look like idiots for giving up a draft pick for a retired guy who hasn't had time to learn the system.
