IF it is all apart of the game then we might as well go back to the fairs where riders used to beat and whip fellow riders during races. That isn't apart of the game. There is a certain amount of decorum that must be expected. Without it you have chaos. And please, Smarty's connections had good reason. Eddington notably was taken totally out of his game just to push and hound Smarty. Smarty finishes a tough beaten second. Eddington and some others were way back near last. Race Riding is apart of it and I don't have a problem with that. But Coa and Kenny D both put fellow jocks in jeopardy at times without any consequence. And you race ride in an effort to get an advantage for YOUR OWN HORSE. Not just to try and get someone else beaten even if it means you totally compromise your horses chances.

I am not going to buy into the "Kent has always had a reputation for not riding out" and that line of thinking. The guy is a professional and this is the Belmont Stakes. This was not a case of not riding out for 3rd, 4th, or a stakes placing. Different situation.

Could Turner be right? Absolutely. OTOH, is it possible that Kent felt, saw, experienced something that Turner didn't or could not have? Absolutely. Could it be something in between? Same answer. Anyway, the race is over. What's done is done and people and their opinion will land where they land.

Then don't buy it. I'm not selling it but it isn't a new critique of Kenny. They call him "Sleepy" for his many non-rides where he misjudges what the horse has left and stops riding. Please, they use a film of one of his rides in McCarrons jockey school in Ky as an example of how much it costs owners, trainers, etc when a rider doesn't ride a horse out. Capote's Crown, 4th in a grade 1. Missed third by a nose and the photo shows Kenny standing up on the horse. BB was not on his game but, please tell me where Funny Cide would have finished in the Jockey Club Gold Cup a few years ago, which he won, if Kenny was on him.
