Orange-ACC (Va Tech vs. Hawaii)
Cotton-Big 12 (Oklahoma vs. Florida)

Good games but if USC wins by 14, LSU wins by 1, Hawaii wins by 10, Oklahoma wins by 28, and WV wins by 6 in 5 ot's, who is number 1?

But what does a 8 or 16 team playoff have to do with those bowls? Why would they not exist. The bowls are seperate from the NCAA. If they will make money and ESPN or somebody else will cover the game they will exist.

Ok even better, FL wins by 40. Can a 3 loss team be voted number 1?

ESPN will leak the results by 5pm EST. Kirk Herbstreet will report Va Tech and Georgia in the title game. Then the NCAA will refute the report.

We'd be left with a debate.....kinda like how we are going to be left with one anyway. The old system was fine. Several teams would walk away from the season feeling like they were the best team and then every once in a while, u'd get a 1 vs 2 matchup in the bowl. Obviously, a playoff would be the best way to determine the champion but in lieu of that, go back to the old way. The BCS supporters will argue that their system has provided exactly what it was intended to provide, a guaranteed 1 vs 2 matchup every year. What they should have guaranteed instead is total chaos in determining just who those two teams should be.

Everybody seems willing to have a 2 loss national champion. How is it all that different? Both losers elevated over non-losers.You can make fun of Hawaii all you want, but they are undefeated because they execute in the clutch. They are small but quick. They give up bad plays, but they play tough to make up for it.Fact is they didn't let the other team score in the 2nd half last night.Washington appeared to be running the ball easily on them, but didn't happen when it came time to keep them out of the end zone.Yeah,Pgrdn, they gave up a bad play late, but fact is they then made a play to win the game.At some point you have to reward teams that execute in the clutch over ones that simply don't. I don't think Hawaii versus Ohio State would be a laugher.I think it would be like Boise State versus Oklahoma.Everybody laughs, but they execute plays very well(just like Boise did.)You call me nuts, but I say you all are nuts for wanting a national champion with 2 losses.

someone has to be champ. what, no champ because everyone lost too much? and then people complain because these schools schedule some games vs weak opponents...because everyone thinks a perfect season ='s a top team. do you want tough play most week, or everyone playing it safe? i'd rather a team who plays hard than a team who plays no one, and then trumpets their 0 loss record.

This just in...Kirk Herstreet reports that the Capital One Bowl is now part of the BCS and the underdog gets the Lou Holtz pre game speech.

If there ever a year where no one really deserves the award it would be this one.

BCS bowls projection

BCS title game: Ohio State vs. LSU
Sugar Bowl: Georgia vs. Hawaii
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Kansas
Rose Bowl: Illinois vs. USC
Orange Bowl: Va. Tech vs. West Virginia

LLes Miles reportedly now being interviewed by Michigan again only this time in Arkansas clothing.

It has also been reported Miles has purchased a 3rd home in Ann Arbor.

These bowl match-ups are boring at best. USC will crush Illinois, LSU will crush Ohio State, Kansas will get demolished by VaTech. The only game worth watching is W.V and Georgia. We get to see some great running backs and I am sure both teams will have a HUGE chip on their shoulder. Hawaii is a team that is fun to watch, and is entertaining. But their game will be more for show that actual quality.

King Glorious 12-03-2007 02:22 AM

So now, how is it that Missouri is ranked higher than Kansas in the BCS poll, beat Kansas a couple of weeks ago and Kansas is the one that gets the selection over Missouri?

King Glorious 12-03-2007 03:16 AM

I also think that either they make all of the conferences play championship games or none of them. It's not fair that Oklahoma, LSU and Va Tech had to play one extra game, against a very tough opponent just to get the same shot at a BCS bowl game that Ohio St., West Va and USC were given by winning regular season titles.

good question.
i guess they thought kansas would produce better ratings. and only two teams can represent their conference in the bcs bowls, so someone had to get shut out.
i think it stinks missouri gets tossed the cotton bowl bone. but i'm figuring they will crush the razorbacks there.

The conferences make that choice on their own.

Their greed underlines their stupidity.

Don't put that on the rest of us smart ones.

SniperSB23 12-03-2007 08:39 AM

It really isn't that hard to do a 16 team playoff while keeping the quality of the bowl games. Move the conference championships up one week (everyone loses one of their weeks off, deal with it). You would have had the round of 16 this past weekend and then the round of 8 next weekend. You then take the time off for the exam period and populate the bowls like normal (including the 12 teams eliminated from the playoffs going to bowls). The top three bowls get the semi-finals on New Years Day and then the championship game the following week. Everyone wins.

That is the biggest crock of BS ever. Missouri hammers Illinois on a neutral field. Beats Kansas easily on a neutral field. Both losses are to a top 5 Oklahoma team (who by the way would be in the championship game but for a Sam Bradford concussion agaisnt Texas Tech.) Illinois has losses to two of the worst Iowa and Michigan teams in recent memory and Kansas and Illinois get BCS payouts and a far superior Missouri team gets nothing. Kansas gets rewarded for getting pounded by Missouri and avoiding the Oklahoma shellacking. Missouri gets punished for beating Kansas.

these people who are running division 1-A football should have zero to do with the sport at all. they need to drop a bomb on the system.

Missouri not being in the BCS at the expense of Kansas and Illinois I think is the biggest crock ever in the BCS and that is quite a statement as there have been tons of those over the years. (ie, the Nebraska and Oklahoma in title games after getting destroyed in the big 12 title game.)

I heard a guy on the radio (not sure where) say that Kansas fans will travel more then Missouri fans. I thought to myself, "How the hell do they know? When is the last time Kansas or Missouri was in a real bowl game?"
