possibly a bandwith issue, or my crappy computer, but the interview cuts off approximately 30 seconds in :(

Anyone else having this problem? I'll try it later tonight

It downloaded very slowly for me, and then, at the end, after Maggie Moss and Steve spoke for about 1 minute - it's over. Not in the archives. STEVE! :(

Not a problem with your computer, it's just missing. Looks like same problem as reported yesterday in the ATR forum.

Riot 11-09-2007 09:07 PM

Well, I'd really like the chance to hear it again, to be fair to her.

Scav thanks for stepping up and representing...I can see the headlines now "Scavs to host SNL" :)

I can't wait for Allday's retort on Maggie's take this week......

So Maggie's seems okay with trivalizing the working of a horse under another name and place.....mmmmm. "Lot's of trainers do it".......sad argument!!

The bettor gets BS info and she's okay with this....??

Maggie the truth sets us all free so if you want to frown at someone who apparently is telling the truth your gonna have to make a better argument than Dutrow and Allday are geniuses alike so please be quiet and don't embarass the poor owner by airng this dirty laundry in public.

If this isn't out of the "Let them eat cake playbook"......Maggie needs to serve some days for Dutrow's ways and I am sure his genus will only be more apparent with her and her horses missing a CD or Keeneland meet....and this woman was a public prosecutor??

I knew she said something like this, I wish I was able to quote her when I called.

She is out of her mind and could care less about the bettors, the people that fund their purses and the industry

The replay skip-jumping is a mystery right now to KC. He cannot see why its' happening and its' happening randomly. He's working on it. Tuesday engineer George and Thursday engineer Ralph have had it happen during the taping as well, and it may actually be a problem originating with the link with Sirius.

Then I'm glad I fought throught the anger and listened to the whole thing live. Steve, can you clear up the confusion and explain how Moss became Dutrow's spokesperson?

Kasept 11-10-2007 03:43 AM

Moss called me yesterday after I had invited Dutrow on for some 'equal time' as it were.. He had been in contact with her all week about what had transpired on the show with Allday, and she had been urging him to let it drop. It was her hope to try to asuage Dutrow's anger, and his clients' anger, over Allday's comments, and get all parties to desist in the rancor in public.

The visit was well-intentioned, and I think everyone who listened got even more of an insight into the situation the game faces than could possibly have been expected.

Needless to say, the majority of us don't think she came off well. While this is an oversimplification of what she said, I don't think a quality solution to the problem is to stop speaking publicly about it. In fact, logicly, the exact opposite is true, therefore I question how seriously she takes the issue (especially due to the fact that she is quite successful the way the game is being played now). In fact, her big thing was that Dutrow was not hurting any horses, which is fine and commendable, but it doesn't address the competitive edge, or lack of level playing field issues.

docicu3 11-10-2007 05:31 AM

Wake up Maggie I think I got something to say to you....

I think it needs to be said that Steve was in no position to respond to Maggie's thinly veiled damage control for Dutrow yesterday for reasons similiar to why the state licensing boards sort of wink at Dutrow for what was done......not enough money to fight for what's right in court!!

"I know I keep you amused but I feel I'm being used"

1) Maggie takes her beautiful "lawyer speak" shot at Allday "well I have been trying to reach him all week and he won't talk to me"

Again we see the double standards of the rich lawyers.....You want people to respect your privacy so you out the doctor practicing his on national radio......very nice Maggie I guess that privacy thing only works when you have the advantage

"I laughed at all of your jokes....."

2) "You don't like what somone's doing......just file something"

That would be your way as a lawyer of settling a dispute but how about a little understanding for those who choose not to lose fortunes upon fortunes in billable hours.

"All I needed was a friend to lend a guiding hand"

3) "I was a prosecutor I know what I'm talking about here I have talked to lots of people all week long and what I learned is that Rick Dutrow is good to his horses"

A) I think most of us could care less if you put away criminnals for a living, Mr Dutrow seems to have great lawyers that ensure he remain a racing criminal without remorse.

B) Who cares what cronies youv'e talked to, Maggie knows as well as the rest of us that this set of problems is about "no court having juristiction here"

If Dutrow or Bianncone or whomever decide to pull out the full set of "lawyers guns and money" most of these guys won't serve a day until they retire as the reality is that the legal process is not an even playing field for the stews and the state racing boards because they don't have the money to fuel the billable hour machine to see the dispute through to an end...When Maggie says "so why don't you just file something when you believe somethings wrong" she knows the legal machine can eat you for lunch.

"All you did was wreck my bed and in the morning kick me in the head"

C) "Dutrow and Allday are such geniuses"

Consummate lawyer speak for "I am about to hit you in the face with a 2 by 4 but first let me praise your children and dead parents to mislead you and then I am gonna blow so much smoke up your behind you'll think the Black Cloud from Lost was a misplaced belch!!!

"Oh Maggie I wish I'd never seen your face........."

Hickory Hill Hoff 11-10-2007 08:28 AM

Again...Mr.Dutrow has not once tried to defend himself, my question is why?
If those accusations were made to me, I would like equal time to respond.
Instead, we get our lawyer friend to "smooth" over things....doesn't change most opinions.
It's his reputation that does him in everytime.

Three thumbs up

I do want to re-listen to her call-in with Steve's comments in mind (not that I think it's going to help the obvious disconnect she displayed between owners that "own and pay the bills", and a horseman-sportsman awareness of the sport)

For someone used to public speaking, and with time to get her bullet-points in order pre-show, she seemed a bit emotional and wandery.

Scav, on the other hand, came across much better

MM: paraphrase.."That really was quite a clever comment by Chuck Simon yesterday. I really should thank him as I may use that in court.

Steve: "Well, why don't you give him some horses then?"

Did Steve really say that? If so, I didn't catch that response. And Steve, if you did say that - HILARIOUS! :D

And what about that Chuck Simon, hum? Haskin mentioning him in Blood-Horse talk, Maggie Moss quoting him on ATR ....

The other reason that quote was intersting had to do with MM's opening comments..She stated that she was far too busy and didn't have time to listen to the radio.... Then she comes back with a Cannon quote from the day before about 10 minutes later. Only a true "Genius" could do that..lol

Riot 11-12-2007 11:00 AM

Well, if I ever need legal counsel in Iowa, I know who not to call.
