i thought i'd put a lid on the speculation, and go find out for sure. sorry that it coincided with your guesswork.:D

He never liked the press. Even in college, he would rarely talk to them.

He's always been a tremendously unselfish player. They made a big deal about his "I play when I want to play" quote and how he takes plays off.

No reciever sprints down the field and does any more running than he does in a game....and opposing defenders always talk about the ability he has to lull you asleep when he changes pace so much from play to play.

In many of the bombs he catches he doesn't always come off the line hard, but he explodes a few strides into the play.

On run plays to his opposite side he will basically do nothing. Every now and than they fake the run to the opposite side - he comes off the line flat and than explodes.

Belichick and Brady both say Moss is the "smartest wide reciever I've ever seen" for many of the on-field reasons media people knocked him for.

Even now, he's a mismatch for every defensive back in the game. And you have to focus your entire defense around stopping him. That's much easier to do when a team has a lousy O-line (the Pats dont) a lousy QB (the Pats don't) or a lousy playcaller (the Pats dont)

He will have a HUGE game against Indy - of that I have no doubt. He has always been spectacular in playoff games and important regular season games.

And don't forget the ultimate compliment from Wes Welker, something to the effect of, "he's alot smarter than he looks". I do realize that many athletes (and people, for that matter) have un-deserved reputations and mis-perceptions regarding character. However, I was unaware Randy Moss was in that category. We'll see how this plays out, I can say he's made all the right moves thus far in New England.

The colts have one advantage. Pats have to travel here to play us on the carpet. Indianapolis is a completely diffirent team on the carpet. NE's secondary is not its strong suit. I think the matchup that will determine the game is whoever the pats put on gonzalez and if the colts can match up moss. Indy has a very quick defense but undersized in the secondary. Of course this is a homer pick, but I think we have enough gas to beat them.

Ohio states game at PSU very impressive. If they play like that, they can beat anyone anywhere anytime.

Moss is even a better wideout indoors and on the carpet.

He will catch atleast 2 TD's in that game.

I'm sure they have some creative deception or trick plays they've been saving for this game to give him deep chances in one-on-one.

His bomb TD receptions have basically been all Brady lobbing up a deep ball into double - or in one case triple coverage - and Moss somehow catching it.

In the first play from scrimmage against Dallas - they had a fake reverse called and it froze Dallas enough to have Moss wideopen for a bomb that would have been an 80 yard TD - Brady just threw a rare terrible pass.

skippy3481 11-01-2007 12:13 AM

He won't have 2 td's. He may get one. Randy moss relies on his athleticism to get free. He is not a talented route runner. He's very dominant at what he does, but brady will have a hard time feeding him with the cover 2. Wes welker has a much better chance of having a big game. He has the ability to find holes and sit down. I think the pats will run more then in previous games. If they just sit back and throw, they will find it much much harder to win.

Your quite welcome, don't even have to turn on the tv..... i aim to please.

6-3 Colts...under. 313 combined total yards. Biggest bore-fest in the history of the league. I advise all of you to watch the infinitely more entertaining Seahawks/Browns game.

Where is Sean Salisbury?

timmgirvan 11-04-2007 06:33 PM

I thought that penalties might 'do in' the Pats, but they found enough to win!

Danzig 11-04-2007 06:36 PM

i know it was only a few bucks, but i sure didn't want to hear a bunch of crap first thing in the morning. thank goodness the pats pulled it out.
and that we went straight up. heck of a game.

joe addai looked great!

pgardn 11-04-2007 07:09 PM

I just heard Chris Collingsworth say the Colts had everything to their advantage...

Hello.

Marvin Harrison is out and then Gonzales goes down.
They did not have their best wideouts in the game.
WTF is he thinking.

Good to see Dungy and Belecheat are still good buddies.
This is turning into a great thing for the NFL.

I read Bill's book, he has some admirable qualities, but
he is such an a-hole it makes it fun when he loses. Its
much more fun beating people who hate to lose.

i don't have a dog in the fight but i thought the game was unusual for a number of bad calls (and non-calls) by the officials all of which went against ne.

this isn't conspiracy guy speaking. i think nfl ref's are honest. but the pass interference call on moss was ridiculous. and the non-call where the defender was holding his hand in the end zone?

i thought indy had the best of an unusual number of bad calls. maybe that's what collingsworth was talking about.

What about the call that was reversed where the Indy guy caught the ball and had his foot clearly on the sideline. There were 2 refs with a perfect view of the play and they both got it wrong though it was overturned.

SniperSB23 11-05-2007 09:13 AM

Strange how the roles have reversed here. In years past this would have been a death sentence for Indianapolis, losing in the Dome and now being forced to play in Foxboro in January where the Patriots running game and short passing offense would do them in. Now while the home field advantage for the Patriots will still help them, a cold and windy day that takes aways the vertical passing game would actually favor the Colts.

The Indomitable DrugS 11-05-2007 09:21 AM

Brady was pretty pissed off at the refs even after the game had been decided - he almost got what would have been a meaningless unsportsmanlike conduct called on him with under a minute left.

Probably wanted to pad the Pats franchise record penalty yardage. While Indy had almost nothing called against them.

If Skippy had been the Colts D coordinator it would have been a Pats blowout.

Anyone with any sense should have known that the way to slow down the Pats O is to get a lot of pressure on Brady from your D-Line... without blitzing guys needed in coverage.

Moss let a few catches get away from him over the middle because he seemed way too conscious of getting hit by Sanders...all while Brady seemed to be thorwing the ball harder than he was in previous games this year.

In the AFC championship game he likely will make sure to catch those balls even if it means he might take a big shot.

The Colts defense played a remarkable game yesterday.

Playing at home and being able to hear on offense is a much greater edge than how fast the field is and how windy it is outside.

New England's defensive focus seemed to be on shutting down Indy's tight ends - and having an extra defensive back in the game in place of a linebacker made the Colts running game look better than it will look in New England - on a slower track and a windy day...when a little less emphasis will be placed on shutting down the passing game.

I think the Colts need Marvin Harrison healthy and their defense to play another sensational game in order to win in Foxboro.

What do I know though, flipping a coin does as well as I do ATS.
