Carmella doesn't want to lose her lifestyle and is the same old Carm. AJ is back to being the couch dwelling cartoon watching bumbling idiot. Meadow is back hanging with "Hunter," defending the Italians, and apparently can't drive. Everything just came full circle, nobody has changed from the momment we met them. How about Agent Harris though? "We're gonna win this thing!!" I was laughing out loud so hard!

While I wasn't happy with the ending, I do kind of think it was fitting. What really got me was no song to end it with! That was always one of the best parts of the show, and we get nothing but credits. Bah!

Can we get back to ragging on Jaime Sanders and Slewpy now?

the Soapranos has sucked since the mom died. they should have recast the mother instead of going the way they went. either that or euthanized the series.

Nothing wrong with being an old hick. I like hicks, actually. ;)

With that said, I've liked Teuflesberg since he ran second to Scat Daddy (I like the Johannesburg's, what can I say?), but let's be realistic here... Jamie's record speaks for itself. She got EXTREMELY lucky finding Teuflesberg for 9k. I have nothing against her as I don't know her personally, but that's just the truth. Sorry if you don't agree.

There is always an element of luck but being a good judge of horseflesh often makes one lucky too! DWL is known to have a keen eye as do most if not all of the successful trainers, with her background it is not unreasonable to assume Jamie does also. Her record is her record and if she ever wants to be considered as a top trainer (even at a small circuit) she obviously must improve her win %...all I've ever said is: (1) it's too early to write her off for many reasons, some sociological, (2) she has done nothing wrong with this horse...the proof was on display Saturday at Belmont, (3) criticizing her record is one thing (her low % is there in black and white), criticizing her handling of this horse is something else (open to debate I think) but criticizing her hair, figure, speech and other physical characteristics seems unfair and reeks of a double standard.

Agreed and you'll notice that I've never done that.

In regards to placing Teuflesberg, I'm not a trainer so I have no say in where the horse goes. My personal opinion is that the colt is better suited for races under 8.5 furlongs and I think the Kentucky Derby proved that. Was it unfair to run the horse in the Derby? Yeah, I think it was (to the horse.) Do I blame her for doing it? Nope... if I had a horse with enough talent, I'd probably want to try it as well. He seems to be a very sound, hard knocking horse and it doesn't appear that the Derby effort took much out of him. I look forward to seeing him run in the future. :)

i have worked in the computer business for the last 25 years, during that time i have also bred race horses, during those 25 years i have taken breaks from computer jobs to work with horses and even while working with computers i had broodmares i owned who i was taking care of at the same time, i work remotely for a nyc company now, i am not taking care of my horses presently they are at a farm not to far from here. i will never work with other peoples horses again, only with the ones i own.believe whatever you want to believe.

i'm sure there are many many old hicks from Southern California who have had extensive successful careers working for top trainers and breeding horses who end up moving on to Ny to work as an analyst for a Wall street company.

Still wondering why the conversation didn't end right here.

Pitts gets nothing but rave reviews, and in Chicago, I cannot think of very many trainers who get the unabashed respect that Christine Janks gets from everyone who follows Chicago racing. All class and very good at what she does.

Sanders gets bashed not because she is a woman, not because she took Teuflesburg to the Derby (who wouldn't?!), but because now after having been given every reason to see that he rates a good chance to clean up on one-turn 3yo races, she's still entertaining the idea of letting him be an also-ran in the Travers.

Really, all the rest of the stuff in here is nothing more than trolling for a fight. There is no sociological explanation for it, it is a statistical explanation...which I figured everyone would have understood from the last eighteen times we've had to have this conversation.

Cripe. I just spent my full allotment of DT time today on this trash.

Nice to see you all.

i never said i had a successful career working with horses i said i have worked on and off with horses so i could learn about them, because thier is no such thing as a successful career with race horses unless you are the trainer or a jockey or a breeder or an owner just about everybody else doesnt make any money,,,you believe what ever you want to believe but i am the owner of one of the best grandaughters ever by seattle slew her name is underwater love look it up. im going to see her in a day or two,,tell me about the horses you own who are grandaughters of triple crown winners. i didnt come on here to argue or prove anything, i thought this was a place to talk about my hobby that i love. watch for horses i bred in the winners circle, it happened twice last month

FGFan 06-11-2007 02:00 PM

Do you go as slewpy as the breeder in the DRF? Not trying to be a smart a but who are you? What horses were in the winners circle?
BTW - I know Slewpy is a horse, just don't know how to find you as a breeder.

yeah you weren't argumentitive at all regarding Mike Lakow, that was a wonderful account of the hooby you love.

why did you ask me how many horses I own who are the granddaughters of triple crown winners? are you trying to prove something?
thats great that you love it and are proud of it. But don't think that that immediately puts your comments on here above reproach. As someone pointed out last night most of your comments are quite hilarious and I don't think it's intentional.

The Bid 06-11-2007 03:52 PM

I like Jamie. As with anyone going out on their own in business they are going to make mistakes. Running horses where they dont belong is a mistake, however selecting nice horses at the sale for a moderate price is not a mistake. They have more than just Tueflesberg over there, Royal War Academy is a heck of a nice horse, Inca King had the potential to be a very nice horse prior to sell, and Pro Pink should have been sold for a lot of money but they wouldnt do it (mistake)

They have developed and ran all of those horses as 2yos, and somehow those horses are still sound and running

Despite how poorly she has spotted these horses, they are doing something right over there developing the babies. Its not by accident babies mature into nice horses.

Notwithstanding her abilities, I have one question...

How is it that with a 2% winning percentage she has any clients?

Probably has clients because she can develop babies. If you can get a cheap 2yo to run and do something significant you can turn a quick profit. Some trainers are better at that than others. Shes done that with most of her decent babies despite the record.

sumitas 06-11-2007 05:46 PM

i was waiting for richard dreyfuss to jump into the box with them. start falling all over the place celebrating the win, just like in that movie . it was a nice scene when Tberg won tho, really.

Fair enough. I imagine developing and selling is a big part of training younger horses and not one I'd given much thought to. Good point well taken.
