tHANKS... I had Moyer pond ATB too, but once I seen Delighful Kiss move to the front, I didnt want MP to catch him...Hang on for second but not catch him... |
I tossed Cowtown and Rocket, but needed Forty Grams in the top 3.

I'll be kicking myself for a few hours about screwing up on the post time, however --Dunbar |
It might have been talked about around here earlier, but the guy who trained Delightful Kiss was the guy who rode the 1964 Ohio Derby winner.
National, ridden by Pete Anderson, and owned by Eddie DeBartolo. |
..and better known for riding Kelso.

Well done! $800 tri.. Tossing Derby participants in races like this always profitable. First read that in Davidowitz and it never changes.... Congrats! |

The story today was that just before the 1964 Ohio Derby, the eventual winner's owner.....Eddie DeBartolo....told Pete Anderson he had made a wager on the horse to win. Turns out it was $10,000 in 1964 dollars. Eddie DeBartolo was the SOB who bought and closed my childhood track, Ascot Park . That's why it's always been easy for me to hate the San Francisco 49er's! |

I said that before he bombed in the Arkansas Derby. Surely you realize assessments are on a race by race basis. I used him today, but with Officer Rocker...who can't run a step, as obviously I pitched the worst 3:5 shot in history. Think about it.....Cowtown Rat was a shorter price than Fabulous Strike. |
Thanks Kasept/P Pants and all . . .I need to thank Byalip for Moyer's Pond suggestion; was key! Steve, sure love DT; I've lurked and learned now since March - loads of fun being on here! I just retired from 30 yrs of teaching yesterday, so I have now have plenty of time to check out the threads daily! And also, am thinking about hitting 'Toga this summer - would love to meet up with all the DT'ers!

I see my handicapping sucks, BUT my gut was right. One out of two ain't bad. :)
Congrats to those that hit! |

What made you use Delightful Kiss today? I didn't think that his May 4 turf race was that inspiring. If you didn't like him before the Ark Derby, and "he bombed" in that one, what made him playable for you today? (not a rhetorical question--I'm genuinely interested.) I absolutely agree re Cowtown Cat's 3-5 being one for the ages. The fact that Cowtown Cat went off at 3-5 should end the discussion about whether this game is beatable. What exactly was CC's excuse for finishing 52 lenghths behind the winner in the Ky Derby? --Dunbar |
I used anyone with a chance with Officer Rocket because I loathe Cowtown Cat.
|
Craptown Rat was the worst 3/5 favorite I've seen in a loooong time... the "wiseguys" at Monmouth today were jumping all over him... unfortunately my selection Moyer's Pond ran well, but not well enough.
That exacta was awfully short, however. I only had it on a backup ticket for $2 but I was expecting more than $250. |
Quote:
The exacta reflected truer odds of the horses in the race in that the exacta pool was more accurate where most likely Cowtown Cat was closer to 6:5 or 7:5 and thus everyone else was lower. |

I also read today this is Anderson's only horse in training. Beware the Calder shippers. |

I was soooooo close again to getting this colt's craptitude exactly right, but missed. |

Nice work, Miraja. I expect to see your assessments in upcoming races. |
