Sedgefield

WILL enter Derby 133 according to Darrin Miller to Steve Haskin yesterday..

That effectively pushes Reporting for Duty from the potential field..

Slew's Tizzy seems to be leaning towards a go (60-40)

Xchanger still seems to be leaning against (30-70)

A defection by either gets Teufelsberg back in; A defection by both gets Imawildandcrazyguy in...

Steve-

I noticed that Imawildandcrazyguy is entered at Calder on Saturday. . . What would you make of this? I'm assuming it's a back-up plan if it looks like he won't get in to the Derby by then. . .

Would have to be as the horse is with Storm in May in Kentucky right now.. Should it look by Thursday that he is going to be hard-pressed to get in, I guess Kaplan would ship him home. Will check with him today about when he'll make a decision.

I'd love to see Tizzy in...

Steve, according to today's DRF, Imawild is at Calder and will be shipped to Kentucky early next week if he's going to run in the Derby:

Trainer Bill Kaplan said Monday that he is taking a wait-and-see attitude with Imawildandcrazyguy, who is still at Calder in Florida.

"We're still planning to run in the Derby if it looks like we can get in, but because of the current situation regarding graded earnings and where we stand on the list, I'm also going to enter him in the Unbridled Stakes at Calder for Saturday," Kaplan said. "We'll then have several days to monitor the situation before making a final decision. We can always scratch Saturday and ship him to Kentucky early next week if it looks like he will get into the Derby field."

D,

That's strange.. Spoke with Haskin last night and he had said he saw Kaplan's two horses... Hmmm...

Are you beginning to believe in Buffy's Tiznow baby? I really hope he does win the derby. Would be SWEET for Tiznow to have a Derby winner.

I loved everything about him the other day. Maybe I should give pause because it came over the poly, but he looked really good winning.

In the beginning of the year, I had a vibe a Tiznow coming out of the Louisiana Derby would win the Derby... in all honesty, I still think that Liquidity has a better shot than Slew's Tizzy, but I'll pull for him for you, Buffy.

He does run well on Poly. I am wondering "is it just the poly or is he finally figuring out this running thing?" He looks like he is a big boy and maybe is just figuring out that huge stride.

We may get better odds on your Tiznow Cajun. :) Slew's recent win will bring his odds down a bit. Lets put our longshot $$$ on yours.

Honestly, I don't think he will win the derby, but I so WANT HIM TO. Tizzy is a good looking colt.

Maybe there is still some confusion with Delightful Kiss?

I'm certainly glad you said flocking.

Mortimer 04-24-2007 06:28 PM

But I don't think "Whizzy" has a chance in hell.

Now Bwana Bull ($125,000) may want in. Derby fever is taking over.

saucon17 04-25-2007 02:03 PM

Teuflesburg and Bwana Bull both entered Sat. in the Derby Trial.

Looks like Tizzy is out.

Slew's Tizzy to Skip Derby; Will Run in Preakness

http://tcm.bloodhorse.com/viewstory.asp?id=38625

That gets Bwana Bull officially in the field. I guess we'll find out later today if he'll stay in the Trial or make a run for the Roses.

Buffymommy 04-27-2007 10:08 AM

I guess I got what I wanted! I can't be mad at his connections for doing right by their horse.

Look out for Tizzy in the Preakness!

SniperSB23 04-27-2007 10:12 AM

I swear we have way more horses pointing to the Preakness pre-Derby than ever. If there isn't a dominating performance in the Derby we could see 20 try and enter the Preakness. Just off the top of my head I can think of all these possibilities:

King of the Roxy
Flying First Class
Street Magician
Starbase
Slew's Tizzy
Xchanger
CP West
Bold Start
Jack Junior
Imawildandcrazyguy

Mortimer 04-27-2007 05:16 PM

No Derby Repeat for Matz; Chelokee to Return to Maryland

Per Bloodhorse at

Matz said he would feel more comfortable about Chelokee with a little more time, so he and Centennial Farm have decided to head home and look at a possible bid for the May 19 Preakness (gr. I), the second jewel of racing’s Triple Crown.

Danzig 04-27-2007 07:26 PM

20 can't enter in the preakness, i think the max is 14 for that one.

I believe you are correct

pointman 04-27-2007 09:49 PM

Correct, max is 14 for Preakness

Mortimer 04-27-2007 10:37 PM

Sounds like 14 is a winner.

The voting is now over...let's not over do it.

Yes, I know. Hence my concern over 20 entering.
