Well, it really depends on which character in the movie he was portraying:-)

I think it is obvious from his previous posts.

Admitting the problem is the first step back to reality.

What's everyone doing for hotels? I'm way late to the party and thinking I'm gonna stay in Georgetown on Friday night and do Thursday and Saturday in cincy on my way to and from home. Heard they are going to be shuttling from KY horse park so Georgetown might not be bad

Americas Best Value Inn- Lexington has rooms for 119/night. Its only 1 mile down the road. Not the Hilton, but it would work for you.

Booking direct or through a 3rd party site? I'm not seeing squat on sites like priceline

www.americasbestvalueinn.com Book direct. Lexington Thursday-Sunday 3 nights comes to about 408. total including tax.
"a crap room at a great price" and so close to the venue.

I'm not. I've never gone to the Kentucky Derby. My brother's 50th birthday is next May 8th. I'm going to surprise him and take him to the Derby. Hotel in Louisville, tickets, and flights will set me back about 6K. I need to have all plans finalized by the fall. So i'll be betting Breeders Cup from my couch this year.

Thanks for that hotel info! Just booked a room for Friday night. We come in late Friday so just need a place to sleep. Planning on staying in Cincinnati on the way home Sat night. Anyone know what the post time will be for the Classic? And is that the last race on the card? Just trying to figure out about what time we'll be leaving Keeneland on Sat night.

tanner12oz 07-05-2015 08:05 AM

I think I'm going to end up doing the same largo. How to hell do we get to the track? I know they are shuttling from KY horse park and Whitaker bank ballpark..not sure where else

tanner12oz 07-12-2015 12:51 PM

just scored the best western in georgetown (shuttle from ky horsepark) for Friday night at $111 out the door through priceline express deals. free breakfast, pool, internet etc...read some reviews on the americas best value and got spooked :-)

see ya'll at the track!

pointman 07-12-2015 11:34 PM

The fact that Best Western can get over $100 a night for hotel room at any horse racing event pretty much puts to rest the horse racing is a dying sport claim.

I'm sure the America's Best Value will be creepy but we are getting in very late Friday and just want the closest place to the track to lay down and get a few winks. Hopefully those winks won't come with a side of bedbugs. Not sure how we are getting to the track in the morning but will probably go very early and drive. Getting excited!! This is my first Breeders Cup. We are planning on leaving immediately after the Classic and stopping in Cincinnati on our way back home to Ohio.

tanner12oz 07-13-2015 07:10 PM

I've stayed at a couple best westerns on horse racing trip and haven't had any issues. Last thing I want to be doing is sleeping with one eye open cuz of creepy crawlers.

I'm also doing the cincy thing on Saturday and maybe Thursday. Its an easy trip down from there and places are going to be about 1000x cheaper. Stayed at a place across the highway from turfway that was about $50 and just fine.

I read you need a pass to park at the track. Would suck to get turned away.

We always stay at the Microtel Inn either in Georgetown or Lexington, whichever is cheaper. Not a great hotel by any means but rooms are clean and both locations are good. Checked daily last year until that weekend was available to book.
Was close to $200 a night at Georgetown. $73 a night for Lexington which isn't much more than what we normally pay. They are independently owned, the Georgetown owner was on the ball.
My wife is going to take pictures. I decided not to buy tickets. I think I'll enjoy myself more staying in the room and watching it on TV or on my tablet.

tanner12oz 07-13-2015 08:31 PM

I also heard parking would be extremely limited if available at all.

I have no clue how this is going to turn out. If its going to be a disaster or the greatest experience ever. It could seriously go either way depending on how its handled.
