If you take the Paynter that ran in the Belmont and put him in either the Derby or Preakness he gets beat bad. Two easy paces in a row at Pim and Bel. If Bob brings them up here this meet, I doubt they run against each other because of their styles.

I agree that Paynter would have probably been up against it in the Derby, if he did try to go to the lead and battle his stablemate. But I didn't think that the Preakness pace was that brisk where Paynter would have been drowned in that race. I was impressed with the race he ran at Belmont and believe that if Mike Smith didn't leave the door open, Zayat would have finally been in the winner's circle this TC season. |
