I suppose I could camp out somewhere, but that would be weird, camping then going to the track.

Why is it weird? there are some real nice campgrounds around there, Saratoga is a wonderful place to camp out. Plus it's perfect weather for camping (nice days, cool nights) as long as it doesnt rain!!

It's a thought.

I just don't like camping around tards.

Knowing my experiences with public campgrounds, my neighbor would be that guy from the TVG clip that was chanting Zen yat ta over and over.

Hello,

I stayed in my RV at Whispering Pines Campsites & RV Park, 550 Sand Hill Road ▪ Greenfield Center ▪ New York ▪ 12833 for 5 days in May this year, really nice. :tro: I hae sayed at 2 other places up there over the last two Toga seasons and this one was by far the best.

They have RV sites, tent sites and cabins to rent as well. Cabins go fast if you think yo may want to go there I would get on it.

About 1 mile from Old Friends Cabin Creek and like 15 minutes to the track (going back streets) :)

Camp ground owners were just great!!!!

I didn't offer an opinion one way or another, Fred, I just gave him the name he was looking for.

Interesting article in the Saratogian last year about the history of Villa Balsalmo..

The place Travis mentioned looked good enough to eat at all 36 (or whatever) days of the meet.

That's the place - thanks Steve and Andy

Freddy, have you even been there? Perhaps I just got lucky and caught them on a particularly great evening, but thought the food was some of the best Italian cuisine I've ever had...

The food at the Villa was always very good, though it's been a few years since I've been there.

The best restaurant in my lifetime in Saratoga was Italian.....Sam's Diner on Rt. 9 South just below Exit 13 on the Northway. In the 80s, Sam's was as good as it gets anywhere....from food to ambiance. The best. The diner eventually became Chez Sophie.

Best wop food I ever had was a place called Rosa's, in Baldwin Park, semi near Santa Anita. The chef/owner used to be the personal chef for JFK and Anwar Sadat.

Not only was the food awesome, but it was this fancy dress up place with waiters in Tuxedos, that was situated on top of the Royal Knight motel, a motel with hourly rates for the local hookers. A very rundown area, lots of graffiti and crime, located about 25 feet off of the I-10.

Baldwin Park is nasty.

It was a surreal experience.

You don't go to Saratoga for authentic Italian.

Are there any decent bike trails in Saratoga?

Oh yeah and good food recommendations. I'll be sure to bring a satchel of digestive enzymes.

I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised by the mornings at the Parting Glass this weekend.

The AM bartender was rediculously accommodating and we spent a few great pre-race hours there every day we were up. Perhaps the best Bloody Mary's on the planet. The NYRA broadcast front and center on all the TV's, it was cool, quiet and comfortable. Even had scratches printed out for the patrons as soon as they were out.

Only breakfast item they have is Irish Breakfast, no substitutions. Lunch food avail as well. Irish Breakfast, Black Coffee, Shrimp Bloody Mary's. Repeat...

Sperry's was pretty good opening night. Was hot in back dining room, but public handicapping star power made up for it.

Why didn't you say hi....or did you?

Yes. Was part of the big table of knuckleheads. My buddy Dave sent you the drink for one of your selections he cashed on.

Really great opening weekend.

Ya know, I just realized that was you. Sorry. Was a long day.

pmacdaddy 07-25-2011 08:12 PM

No worries.

Was going to say something when you stopped over, but nothing screams cool at a dinner table of friends and co-workers like the comment "Hi Andy. It's me. Pmacdaddy....". :D
