That's rich.

Those are your tactics. Own them, or cry about it in another thread.

The problem is you aren't bright enough for this thread. Which is why I suggested you stick to the areas where you can pretend you are.

Maybe you will make a poll about me. Or better yet, maybe you will threaten me by PM.

Oh I can't wait.

Obviously, you have nothing to contribute. Can you leave this thread alone and start another one for your tantrum? Thank you.:)

Belmont Park is as female friendly as any other track. Judging it based on Big Brown's Belmont Day isn't exactly fair. Most days aren't like that.

Threaten you? Who did I threaten? What are you talking about? Nice deflection though.

I'm just giving you a taste of your medicine. You criticize everyone for a poor opinion, when in reality, you have one of the worst on the board.

Own it.

And the fact is that Saratoga has the history angle, and Keeneland and CD are located in one of the few areas where horse racing is still a big deal. Why do you think that you can bottle this festive atmosphere and transfer it other places?

Sadly, its the only hope in my opinion. The cost of racing puts it at such an extreme disadvantage to its competition for the gambling dollars. You know those facts and numbers certainly better than I do.

Changes don't come overnight. It takes time. I agree that there are some places that are just hopeless. Obviously, the state of maryland really doesn't care very much if there is live racing there and frankly I don't see how it would be possible for either of those tracks to return to their hey days. At the same time, its hard for me to believe that Monmouth couldn't be turned into some type of Jewel. It isn't my favorite track but you have location and you have a ton of people in a great environment.

Gulfstream or a revamped hialeah couldn't be made into profitable, productive venues if marketed properly?

Even CSC and Booth Operator

That's why I said "one of the worst."

Maybe I should start a poll about it. Or send a threatening pm...you know, that's my style.

And your opinion is so great right? You haven't even offered an opinion on this subject you spineless loser and if you did it was lost in all of the other garbage that you spill on the fifty boards you post on 24/7.

Again, this could be a worthwhile discussion. If you want to sling garbage, start a new thread and I will be happy to engage. If you want to hang out with the grown ups, please comport yourself as such. Thanks.:)

That is the point. I wasn't picking on Belmont in particular, just the notion that racing has done very little to cater to over HALF the population and to market to a group that has been liberated exponentially over the last 40 years.

Belmont is probably better than some tracks but it still a far cry from where it needs to be.

I know that this is far flung, jay, but lets say you somehow had a date. Would you bring that date to Belmont for a day at the races? How about to Arlington? Maybe? Definitely before Belmont even if live racing was dark. Maybe I am asking the wrong person

You have to compare the venue and the experience it creates to the other entertainment competition.

Give free or very cheap booze to women at the track.

Do that and gamblers will come.

This was a nice touch. Don't forget to take your meds tonight.

For someone who dishes it out nonstop, you certainly can't take it very well. Then again, frauds usually get mad when their bulls.hit gets called.

Dala, I don't understand your point. So if Belmont re-did all the ladies bathrooms, women would flock to the track? What kind of marketing strategy would you propose if you were Belmont?

For the record, I have taken my wife to Belmont when we were dating. I would have actually chosen to take her there over both Old Yankee and Shea stadiums. You want to talk about broken toilets and bad food.
I think Belmont it is a beatiful facility. I want to take the boys their some time soon.

Regardless, it's NY and the entertainment options are endless. Not sure you are really grasping that based on that you really weren't sure who had more horse folk either Kentucky or NY. It's a very tough market for targeting men, let alone women.

For the record, I don't post on more boards than you and I certainly don't post on this one as much as you do.

And if you want to Lie about you losing your marbles and sending PM'S, that is on you stud. Certainly I have never accused anyone else of this in my five plus years posting and there have certainly been more heated exchanges.

I am not going to perseverate (SAT word Math;))on the issue all day. I rarely post on horse racing stuff but this subject is very interesting to me. If anyone wants to discuss more, lets do it. Rootdog and Cannon, I apologize to you if my bombast was offensive. I just wanted to engage that's all.

You are lying and Steve could I'm sure verify that I have never done what you are accusing me of. It's okay, I'm not mad at you for it. You were desperate and threw up a hail mary. You can't take someone giving you a taste of your medicine and you're an angry person. It's why you act the way you do.

Don't forget the meds tonight.

Thanks Math. "redid ladies bathrooms". LOL that would be a start and I'm not kidding either. And there is nothing wrong with what Paolo said either. How about some drinks?

How about some entertainment other than racing? How about going old school and encouraging more A list celebs? How about changing the food? How about using some of the wasted stands space and creating more comfortable lounge areas where people can socialize? How about contests between races? How about some vouchers for women?

There are a number of ideas and not a single silver bullet. At the same time, even though NY is not louisville, you have a rich thoroughbred tradition along a zillion times more people. The prospect of spending the day or evening at the track has got be made interesting to people that aren't yet horseplayers. Isn't that the goal?

Coach Pants 05-26-2011 01:36 PM

How about stripper poles and an area where clowns make balloon animals for kids?

This is getting ridiculous. You basically want to turn Belmont into a nightclub. That's not going to increase handle significantly and it would be a massive investment for maybe a marginal increase in attendance.

Selling this ambiance bullshit for a track that's basically in the sticks compared to New York City is a ridiculous idea.
