IMO The government needs to stay in the governing business and stay out of healthcare all together. We have the most expensive system because we are the most advanced. This is evidenced by a myriad of world leaders including the King of Saudi Arabia who could have chosen any caregiver on the planet yet chose the USA and its miserable health care system. Don’t try and fix what’s not broken.

Dell, that just shows that the rich can afford the best....do you really think the poor or middle class have the same access? This nation has become two countries, one where rich folks enjoy all the benefits their money can buy, the other where the rest of us struggle every day. Saying life isn't always fair is a cop out....it could be a damn lot fairer for everyone!

The voting majority in this country elected a President, House and Senate that would try and enact healthcare reform. It's now law. Deal with it.

The rich can afford better houses, better cars and better food as well. This is America not France.

See we all grow up in a country where anyone of us could have been either the richest man in the world or current President doing nothing more than having ambitition and the will to achieve it. Gates came from little and Obama came from nothing.

You do realize that isn't true......right?

His dad was an attorney. Hardly a shipping or oil magnet. BTW Obama came from more than nothing as well.

Where else but this country can the child of a share cropper become reverend of one of the largest congregations in the city of chicago, have an affair, child out of wedlock, be accused of homosexual advances and numerous one nighters and still remain married and the reverend of the church. It's a great country I tell ya.

So, according to you, an upper-middle class background now qualifies as coming "from little?"

Listen, you were wrong. As usual. Its okay to admit you posted something and had no clue what you were talking about. Everybody who frequents the politics room is already accustomed to it from you.

Dell, this is a great country, but it's overly simplistic thinking to say that it's a fair country....we strive to make it so and have come a long way from the days when black folks were slaves and women second class citizens who couldn't even vote. Today we see a divided America, the "haves" and "have nots" are living in different realities. Sure there is upward mobility and hard work along with good luck can lead to success but there are many many folks who play by the rules, work hard and never get that "big break". There are seniors living on canned dog food and children who go to bed hungry every night, there are homeless folks living atop heat grates in the cities and in country woods. There are the mentally ill, the physically disabled and millions of folks who have simply given up on the American dream. This simply should not be, not in a land of riches, and yet there are those who say deny the most needy of essential services and reward the rich with tax breaks because they will take that windfall and turn it into more jobs. Balance the budget on the backs of the poor and middle class cause they aren't important anyway...and use the excuse of providing for future generations. The question comes to mind, what future generation are they speaking of? Today's children are witnessing draconian cuts in education spending, attempts to limit their access to health care and other essential services....it's no wonder that they feel "future generations" isn't a term applied to them.

Housing, Food (gourmet etc.,) and Cars are all areas where one's economic status should apply. Medical care is a basic need. It is not a luxury item. It is not an optional item. You take things too far, and you always will.

If some citizens don't have access to good health care, then, that country is not great. If your lesser citizens don't have medical care, then, it's not made up for by others getting rich.

When you can start out poor with no healthcare, get a free education, free food and rent subsidies and borrow from the government to go to college and become anything you want to be it's a great country.

If a meatball like Snookie, with no talent whatsoever, can make it there are no excuses.
