What a day for cheating scumbags that is...Smiling Tiger was so much the best there...chased Alcindor, put him away decisively, and just missed while running fast the whole way around. What a lucky, perfect trip there.

I would have preferred Tiger, but you can't take away that Sadler swept the 3 stakes with big performances. Though it is sad that they are actually counting Twirling Candy as having beaten Spectacular Bid's track record. I'm happy to have dirt back though.

Did they move the Gulfstream timers to Santa Anita?

Kasept 12-26-2010 06:12 PM

Heard from Jay Privman on site that they're going to be re-checking all the timings.

Sebastian, Nextdoorneighbor, Blue Panis...

Maybe I'm insane for thinking any of them could win this but I do.

The good news for me is that I didn't play this race.

The bad news is I was all over Caracortado. :wf

Maybe they can go to a 3 1/2-inch cushion to take some of the "speed-favoring concrete highway" away :D

Closers are doing well on it.

I was skeptical as well.

You don't know what you're talking about. Sorry.

I know today the track was advertised as having a 3-inch cushion, and the track sure seems to be carrying speed from what I've watched. Sorry for daring to have an opinion. Not. There are multiple horses today that have outrun their figures. Maybe it is a timer problem. Or maybe the track is pretty darn firm and fast.

Considering how much it rained you have to think they did everything they could to try and get the surface fast for opening day. We see this all of the time.

It wasn't speed favoring though...not even close. The results back it up.

Alan07 12-26-2010 06:46 PM

It looks like WPS handle was down about 15%

SCUDSBROTHER 12-26-2010 06:48 PM

It's fast, but i don't think it's favoring speed very much. Caracortado wouldn't of gained that much (late in the Malibu.) On speed favoring tracks, you see closers that are hopelessly out of position. They will be way too far back in the middle of the race.

You have no opinion. You have an agenda. You don't know a thing about the track. You are completely wrong about it as speed-favoring and a concrete highway. Period.
