There would be no point to that. It is also far from a HOY path, as they know now. If they don't have a potential HOY campaign, what is the point (unless they just want to cherrypick Dubai).

How much $ of the all time earnings record is she? Would Dubai make her close?

What, no steeplechase race at Saratoga?

If after being on the internet following racing and reading comments you haven't come across people nocking Zenyatta as less than a Great horse - comparing her to lame horses like Peppers Pride - than you've got to be in an alternate universe. You want me to find quotes? Quotes that prove to you that people have nocked her as a terrible horse? People have and you know it. Come on.

I think there is no way she comes back. But if she does, no way she goes to Dubai. It makes a lot of sense, but they were afraid of shipping across the rockies. She's not shipping to Dubai.

Don't be ridiculous.

I'm trying to keep this conversation serious.

tector 11-08-2010 04:09 PM

Without Dubai or a bona fide HOY campaign, just retire her.

I do agree with this.

Sorry, IC--I do play the fool sometimes. I will try to do better!

Prove it. Show me one quote where someone said she was terrible. Comparisons to Peppers Pride were simply to make the point that being undefeated alone doesn't make you great. No one called her terrible, you made it up.

And therein lies the problem. They'll never send her to Dubai and her connections and legion of fans think that Salted Margarita-Apple Blossom-Vanity-Hirsch-Lady's Secret-BCC is a HOY campaign, even if she loses the biggest one in that slate.

But the BCC win would make it HOY campaign, right? I mean if she beat Blame by a nose, is she a lock for HOY now?

Sure. There would have been a modicum of debate but I'm sure she would have gotten it and can say she would have deserved it given that QR ran miserably bad and Lookin at Lucky had no answer for the top two.

I'm against the categorical assertion that BC races are the be all, end all of Eclipse/HOY voting but when you have a horse that has had a campaign that included many weak races that loses the biggest race of her year, you can't vote that one HOY.

Only because no one else had a great campaign. Look why why she lost in 2009. When you play it conservative, your fate can be in the hands of what others are doing. Her connections and fans just don't want to seem to acknowledge this obvious truth.

I would love to see her racing in 2011.

If she does come back, however, I beg Ateam, Byk, anybody, to do the humane thing and dart me.

It'll be like Road Warrior. Who knows who will survive.

I see what you're saying. In my view, when people say things like Zenyatta was beating nothing, I take these comments to mean Zenyatta is a "terrible" horse.

But that's not what it means. It's not even close. She was beating extremely questionable competition all year. It's just a fact. This does not make her a terrible horse and not one person claimed that it did. So please don't say things like that.
