Threads like this, and all talk of Zenyatta and/or Rachel just sucks out all my energy; it is exhausting to read the same crap over and over again. Barring some sort of catastrophe, I'm singling Zenyatta in my multi-race bets and spreading on the others.

She showed up for three races. Woo. Hoo. Let's just induct her into the Hall of Fame today.

Yes I believe what I wrote. Champions do not chase contenders. What do you think?

So you are saying Sherrifs lobbied for the plastic in So Cal just for Zenyatta? Keep digging.

That's not what I said at all you rube.

What makes her a champion? Two wins, each at the end of the season? If that's all it takes, we might as well just cover them in bubble wrap and push them right into the shed at birth.

Whether or not you want to admit it, racing in California is completely different from racing everywhere else and Zenyatta had an overwhelming advantage against any east coast horse that would ship in. I really can't believe people still argue this.

As much as you would like to believe surface has nothing to do with why no one will go out west to face her, we both know that's just not true.

Dont make surface as an excuse. Zenyatta showed up in Arkansas but RA did not.

What does Rachel Alexandra have to do with anything?

What was everyone elses excuse for not showing up in the Apple Blossom?

If 2 BC wins and 11 G1 wins is not enough to call one a champion then I must say you have very very high standards.

How did this become a Rachel/Zenyatta thing?

Don't make surface an excuse? Why not? Are synthetic and dirt the same? If you are a dirt horse, why would you ship across the country to run on a surface foreign to you?

It's not like the connections of the horses you mentioned have been saying they are better on synth...then running on dirt like the connections of Zenyatta.

These arguements have been hashed out for months now. Where ya been?

RA excuse for not coming to cali is because they do not want to run on plastic. When the stage was set to for a match race on dirt, they did not show but Zenyatta did.

Yeah, those restricted G1's against the same four horses on the tires are real royal rumbles.

This is what Zenyattards do. She stays in her backyard all year, beats nobody, then they go "HAY SHE WON BC RACES AND G1'S SO SHE'S THE QUEEN OF EVERYTHING".

To argue that they haven't ducked top competition with this 'champion' is like arguing that the sky is blue. I can't believe her campaigns are good enough for supposed racing fans. Your standards are extremely low.

Once again, what does Rachel Alexandra have to do with this? There were plenty of other hills for the 'champion' to climb after RA didn't show, but they were fine with satisfying tards like you and beating cupcakes the rest of the year, as if RA not showing alone justifies Zenyatta's greatness.

Its a never ending argument. I wonder what other peoples opinion of her will be IF she wins the classic again this year.

Be honest, do you really not view the surface issue as a understandable reason no one has shipped out there?

forget about what she won and who she beat, dont you think the publicity that follows her is good for racing?

I understand the issue BUT if they did and lost to her, the surface would always be an excuse for them. Apple Blossom was a level playing field but no one stepped up to run against Zenyatta.

Isn't it an excuse though? When turf horses try dirt and flop, isn't surface the excuse then?

Two of the four horses you mentioned weren't even eligible for the Apple Blossom.

More deflecting. That's not what this discussion was about. And I think her publicity is bad for racing, because it sets the example for other owners/trainers that 'forget about what she won and who she beat', she's just the best because we say so. There's enough ducking in racing already that we don't need a horse who has taken the easy road 95% of the time in her career being called the second coming of Pegasus by idiots.

Arletta 11-01-2010 07:04 AM

Unfortunately, we will never know just how "great" she could have been.
Even if she does win her 2nd Classic, it won't prove she is the "greatest" of all time. I will cheer for her of course because she is fun to watch, and she is a unique individual, but she won't be a single on any of my tickets.

"Yay", for whats she's done for racing and 'Yay", for any new fans that she created. Let her have her trophy for most popular. To hear that she is the "greatest of all time" is totally ludicrous.

However, to see Goldikova come over here and win her third straight Breeders' Cup mile.. Now THAT will be quite the accomplishment in my book.

An actual champion. But nobody cares about her because she doesn't dance and doesn't have the hype machine dominating the media.

What publicity? The average schmuck on the street has no clue about who or what a Zenyatta is.EVERYONE knew, and knows, who Secretariat was.And I don't think a movie will be made about Zenyatta and her wins against Southern Cal. claiming horses and N1X winners.I don't think she has even come close to setting a track record in her career.

Unfortunately this is wrong. On the good side, just about as many non-race fans knew about Pepper's Pride. On the bad side, very few of these "schmucks" know who Rachel Alexandra is, and even less of them can pronounce her name right:confused:
