I should have checked my apparently poor memory. I'm sorry about the mistake.

Many here are assuming Quality Road will demolish Zenyatta if they both make it to the BC. Yet there's been no discussion from the Zenyatta camp about maybe running in the Distaff. They've been unusually direct that their only goal is the Classic.

I doubt Personal Ensign's connections even considered running her in the Classic that year, not against that level of horse. They picked the weaker race* to keep her undefeated streak alive.

* yes, both Winning Colors and Goodbye Halo were very nice fillies. But Winning Colors had just finished 4th of 5 in the Spinster in her previous race, and she won just 2 of 7 thereafter.

I'm certainly not knocking Personal Ensign. I consider myself lucky to have been at that BC. But to call Personal Ensign "great" while dismissing what Zenyatta has achieved doesn't make sense to me.

I'm sure the Zenyatta camp realizes it is about 50% Quality Road will even be in the BC, there is still a long way to go and the horse has stallion value so will be retired if anything goes wrong.

One major reason Personal Ensign may not have been considered for the Classic was that Phipps had a two horse entry of Seeking the Gold, who finished second, and Personal Flag in the race.

Not saying otherwise she would have run but I'm into full disclosure.

At this stage, I put the win streak nice as it is, a distant 3rd in what I want Zenyatta to accomplish in 2010. My wish list would be:

1. For her to win the BC Classic
2. To drown Rachel in a race where her fitness level is at 101%

If this could be accomplished all at CD in the Classic, all the better.

The QR hype will only get stronger in the coming weeks

Some blowhard over at TC keeps saying that he's as good as GZ. lol

Could you see GZ only a couple lengths clear of a horse like MM at the finish of the Met??? Uh, don't think so

Hell, MtB and RA were beating that colt last year.

Granted, QR will have at least one huge advantage over Z (the fact that he's a 4yo male and she a 6yo female) if they both can make it to this year's BCC … but there's still legit questions about his ability to get the classic distance against a strong field.

who is a better race horse? Who they beat is not the only component.

Zenyatta has beat a few champions in her career as well.

beat beat? I don't know what your asking.

I have no idea how you can say definitely that Personal Ensign is a better race horse looking at the two records on paper. I agree Personal Ensign has beaten pretty good horses but Zenyatta has beaten a few as well.

Where did you stand on the Easy Goer/Sunday Silence question?

lol...sorry i meant beat better. i think you know what i was asking though. i asked it in my first post. i dont think its even really comparable who beat better. of course zenyatta has a chance to beat better. but racing in california isnt doing anything for her rep.

i thought sunday silence was better.

blackthroatedwind 06-03-2010 03:16 PM

I loved Personal Ensign but even I admit that saying Zenyatta isn't in her class is more than unfair. Yeah, she is getting a puzzling campaign ( again ) but come on.
